Maybe they are waiting until 2:30 so the announcement will be exactly a week before doors open. (I know it is unlikely but I really want the schedule to be released ASAP!)

Every time I see venue reviews about any place in the city there are tons of people complaining about security, mainly getting kicked out or being patted down upon entry. I never had any issues with any security anywhere so I never understand these things.

Just don't do something you are not supposed to do and you will be fine.

  3. I appreciate this optimism :D

I'm a little resigned to it coming tomorrow, so at least a later announcement will be a pleasant surprise

1000%, at least here in NY. Even the places with objectively bad security staff don't really screw around with people who aren't bothering anybody.

If the weather is nice I legit might bike this year, although it’s an hour each way and I have my nunchuck-esque chain lock that weight 5 lbs to deal with.

  5. Definitely going to give the Cicero pink line a try this year to see how that goes. Thanks!

Anyone want to check in to make sure they are alive? It worked last time!

They're retweeting local bar's RF ticket raffles. The one for the Owl you have to be there at 11 to claim your prize. Seems early for the Owl crowd.

Wonder if we'll get a Trio album set on Thursday?

I doubt it. Dan didn’t even realize it is the 20th anniversary of From Here to Infirmary.

If there was, I think it would’ve been announced from the get-go. Joyce Manor is listed that they’re splaying S/T, so it would’ve made sense for them to have it listed already

Honestly, I'd be down for a repeat of their 2018 set list. That shit was pretty perfect.

Speaking of set lists, I know it's controversial to discuss, but if Morrissey's set looks anything like his recent run of shows in Vegas, then it'll be much better than what he played in 2016 imo

    It's chaos. Be kind. Prestigious

Suddenly Alkaline Trio conflicting with The Wonder Years in 2018 doesn't sound so bad. Really happy to get a second chance.

I just looked and you're very right. "Half a Person" is probably my favorite Smiths song.

When are we getting our first ‘fences are starting to go up in the park!’ Picture? And will it come before the schedule? Haha

Facebook Riot Fest groups are the new Reddit. Over the last six hours I've seen:

    - A person wondering if they are going to add Flogging Molly, the Violent Femmes, and Me First to the line-up and that's why the schedule is on hold (and others supporting this theory)

    - People convinced it's going to get cancelled.... And that's why the schedule hasn't come out yet

    - People convinced we are losing a bunch of other bands and the festival doesn't want to announce it so they will delay the schedule until next Wednesday

EDIT: And somebody who said yesterday they were just provided more info about press credentials saying we should expect an update on "Thursday or Friday" so... Usual ratio of wild to "actually wait, that seems legit."

lol that FM/VF tour is literally going to be nowhere near Chicago during Riot weekend. It’s literally impossible for them to be added. Haha

Yeah, but Riot hasn't announced something and they played Chicago this week. Therefore...

Sometimes shit like that holds water. But not around a schedule announcement with no other bands seeming to have dropped. Haha. (And that band, as you pointed out, has tour dates elsewhere that weekend.)

I feel like the most likely reason they're holding off is they just want to avoid another round of making an announcement only to have someone else drop out 24 hours later. I feel like it's inevitable that more bands will have to pull out due to someone in the band's camp testing positive, and we all know how understanding the internet will be when that happens.

If nothing tomorrow, I’ll definitely feel a bit worried about the fest.

They said the schedule would be coming this week. If it's delayed beyond tomorrow... Something big is up. So yeah. Same here. But I'm also pretty convinced that it'll be coming tomorrow.

There really hasn't been anything signaling that the festival is in trouble beyond the general world around it.

It's also worth noting that bigger bands have been announcing their drops ahead of the festival. So I'm sure we'll know in the AM if anybody else noteworthy is dropping.

But to me this kinda just feels like the festival wanting to stick to a specific schedule... Which Riot seems to want to do every year with every announcement for some reason or another. This all feels kinda par for the course to me.

Listen, I agree here with everything you guys are saying but let’s not speak this into existence… I’m praying for this to whatever gods there are for this to still happen.

I doubt anything bad would happen at this point. It looks like a lot of the artists playing too are still confirming they’re playing too. I don’t think Riot is getting cancelled or anything bad
