I don't really blame pitchers for giving up a run in extras with the new rule and this loss is more on the umpires plus Baez's inability to make contact when it matters. But still, if I never had to see Diaz pitch for the Mets again I really wouldn't complain

Tbf, the Rays just played a series in which Boston has botched that play about 3 or 4 times so I understand what joeys thinking.

But a man on 2nd base with 2 outs is a good enough thing to have in that situation.

Yeah I think a lot went wrong, including managerial decisions, to where it isn't fair to solely blame Diaz. I get McCann hasn't been hitting, but why pinch-hit for him (especially with Mazeika)?. Also, not that he would have made the play but why did Almora just watch that ball hit off the wall as if the game wasn't automatically over as soon as it hit the ground lol
