yeah dont get me wrong i think jazzmaster pickups sound completely amazing, just noisy by all accounts. and also I love that trem from a playability standpoint, love how the action of it feels so precise - getting the step down bend for surf sounds is like so smoothly just built right in. i wish the strat trem could feel as good as that for that sort of thing but it is more unwieldy. i do prefer the strat trem overall because of how it physically sounds and feels as a bridge - my favorite tones and slinky play feel.

a jazzmaster with a strat trem seems dope! Id deck it so i can do bends and i dont really use the bar in the up direction. floating does have a little extra slink though that feels nice i just get worried about being in tune from time to time.

I recently played a top-loaded telecaster and holy moly. You can't get those trem/vibrato sounds, but the slinky play/bends with the sound of tele pickups is truly something else. I didn't think there would be such a difference in feel and sound, but I definitely noticed it. Fender should offer a hybrid bridge on tele's and strats where you can have the string-thru and top-load options. I think they only do it with an american tele pro though.

I've wanted an offset for a while now and when these were announced I got super excited. Glad to hear they stack up, maybe have to pick one up!

I have a bunch of builds/partscasters I want to try to make eventually but I especially want to try and “re-create” as closely as I can the original design for the Fender Marauder where the pickups were totally hidden under the pickguard. such a cool piece of basically forgotten history.

Wow, that ice blue metallic one looks great. There’s are some super interesting models that have been forgotten about.

they’ve actually done it pretty recently with Brad Paisley’s signature Esquire. they hid the neck pickup under the pick guard so it looked like a traditional Esquire. the pickup design they had dreamt up for the original Marauder was also really wild, there were 4 and they looked more akin to like fatter Jazz Bass pickups if anything.

so ridiculous in the best way. i want to say fender released a marauder teaser video in the last year or so where they hired this one guy to put a delay pedal inside the guitar or something lol.

I've been buying parts from the Stratosphere recently. So far, I have zero bad things to say about them haha. They update their inventory pretty much daily and its awesome. I bought a fender neck and I got it $100 cheaper than the replacement one's sell for because they parted the guitar and sold it in pieces.

I've definitely caught onto their pattern and noticed they obtain a few of the same instruments and will sell the parts individually, as a loaded body, loaded pickguard, or in a bundle sort of way. Pretty cool. I do have to say, if you're on there and see something you want...just buy it because there have been many times I waited on an item and it got bought up quick haha. That's probably due to the fact that they post the same part on their site, reverb, and ebay though.

I was just looking into these the other day! Apparently those ones for the promo magazine were the only ones ever made. They look so awesome. I hope you make one!

Y’all more fans of traditional maple necks or roasted maple necks?

I haven’t gotten to mess around much w roasted maple necks but I dug the couple I have played and think I would opt for them over standard maple if only from an aesthetic standpoint alone. maple rarely looks, like, elegant or whatever to me tbh. I think I just like the look of darker woods. oddly tho, I generally prefer solid maple necks over maple with a different wood for fretboard, just again mostly from an aesthetic standpoint.

tbh tho having a guitar with a solid rosewood neck has kinda spoiled me, if I could get that option on every neck of every guitar I purchase from now on I would haha

Yeah, roasted maple neck feel and look great. They give a bit more of a modern feel yet still allows for a vintage look.

I think Aged all maple necks are cool. They’re broken in, the color is more tinted.

the all rosewood necks are cool. They’re definitely different and cool. I like the way look with with blue/green guitar A LOT.

only thing im not crazy about aesthetics wise is the paint is translucent which is cool but the body wood underneath is not pretty at all as you can see lol its 3 pieces

the reason i got it though is because it sounds totally great and it weighs less than 7 pounds

my other strat weighs 9 pounds shit you not and i hate that lol

I’ve never tried a vox. I’m definitely a fender amp kinda person though. Even for heavier stuff haha. I’ve had a Fender FSR Super Champ for almost a year now and I love the out of it. It’s a hybrid amp. Part tube amp/part digital modeling amp. I’m honestly surprised that they’re not more well known amps.

Ok. Need some input. I asked about the maple/roasted maple bc I’m torn on which neck to get for my next build. I ordered a fuschia flake tele from warmoth. I’m putting a black/holoflake pickguard on the body. Just figuring out what neck to put on it. Let me know what y’all think. Roasted maple or plain maple?

vox + just about anything is a winner in my eyes. I’m so ridiculously in love with mine haha. there are definitely other amps I hope to get in time but I feel like this will always be my #1.
I hadn’t really played a fender I bonded with until I tried one of the custom vibrolux reissues in a shop a couple months ago, definitely hope to get one someday

Based on those pics I think the darker neck would look cooler with that colour body.
