Honestly loved Candyman. Need to unpack it more and I’m sure I’ll have some questions/gripes but overall man, I was enthralled. Got legit chills at the end.

That script is such a mess though.

Man, Heather Langenkamp’s performance in the original Nightmare is so all over the place. Mostly it’s not good, but then she just kills a line delivery. It’s wild.

  4. Ah man, I like that performance haha

Took a gamble on the new season of AHS after seeing it was out and gotta say, I enjoyed the first two episodes. My experience with AHS is so up and down as well as minimal so we'll see if it lasts.

  9. I still need to watch The Beginning, 3D, and Leatherface (2017)

The only Texas chainsaw film I’ve liked was the 2003 reboot. I never liked the original, the sequels or the last few films they’ve released since the reboot. I’ll watch the new one on Netflix but I do not expect it to be good at all.

  11. I generally love the original series, Leatherface and The Next Generation included. The first one is a tough, tough watch, but an excellent horror film. I have nostalgia for the remake, but I rewatched semi-recently and unfortunately, it's not very good.

The only ones I've seen were the original and 2. Both great movies, never heard good things about the further sequels

  13. This is the scariest movie I've seen all year

Halloween is clearly the most accomplished but if I’m being honest with myself, after rewatching the big three in the past 24 hours, I really think my ranking is:

    Friday the 13th
    A Nightmare on Elm Street
    Halloween

Which I realize is probably directly the opposite of the general consensus but eh.

The first one is an absolute classic. Probably one of my favorite horror movies. Two is zany and trashy in a bonkers way that completely flips the script. Beyond that it’s a mixed bag. The remake and it’s sequel are fine. Still haven’t seen New Gen

Edit: I’m talking about TTCM for clarity’s sake.

I’ve seen the original TCM once or twice but yeah - tough watch and not one I need to see probably ever again. Haven’t done any others besides the remake and it’s sequel.

When it comes to the big 3 in horror franchises it would go
    1) Friday the 13th
    2) Halloween
    3) A Nightmare on Elm Street

The original Halloween and Halloween 2018 are the best films out of all 3 franchises, but the first 4 Friday the 13th films are all solid slashers (especially parts II and III) which makes that franchise higher overall. I've never been a fan of NOES. The first is okay but I don't care to watch the other films ever again. Each franchise is plagued with some truly awful films, though.

Poor baby, you're starting to lose it.

I rewatched the TCM remake last week and my nostalgia for it has definitely waned over the years but I still think it’s solid. It is downright brutal at times in ways that a lot of mainstream horror movies weren’t at the time (except the Hills remake which makes 2003 TCM look like Sesame Street).

God the hills have eyes remake…don’t know if I could watch that again. Just absolutely unrelenting.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Elm Street is my favourite franchise of the 3, it's not close

Halloween is my favorite, Friday is the most consistent

  22. Yeah NOES is easily my least favorite of the big three. Friday is more consistent but Halloween has higher highs. It's almost seasonal at this point for.me, Friday during the Summer and Halloween in the fall

Child's Play deserves to be in the conversation tbh, very consistent and fun franchise from a relative standpoint

I’ve always been more into Friday the 13th during the summer as well. Camping, going to the lake, etc. has the F13 vibe. Whereas the month of October is the atmosphere the Halloween films have.

Halloween is by far the best. NOES is second in my book. Jason/FT13th is admitted to be a rip off of Halloween so I do not understand ranking it above any other franchise like so but the people like what they like.

My date cancelled/rescheduled on Candyman so I’m sitting here eating chicken nugget feelings.
