This is some real “be sure to drink your ovaltine” bullshit.

That’s it? A crummy contest? Son of a bitch :/

I’m assuming we get the replacement artists announcement tomorrow? Hopefully… by Friday

FWIW, someone on FB commented on their new post about the contest and asked about the new band announcements and they replied with "Soon..."

I just wish they would reveal the schedule already so I'll know whether I need to take a half day off work on Friday

So thirsty for any RF info, I actually entered this contest.

I hate how quick I was to enter that contest...

I mean, it kinda has to be "soon." Haha. I'm really hoping for tomorrow (followed by a schedule drop on Friday). That would put them in line with when the schedule has been released in prior years.

I’ve only been a fan of the festival since I went in 2019 or so but I’ve figured out soon can refer to multiple different time frames to them lol

Yeah, "soon" can mean tomorrow, within the next week, multiple weeks, etc.

But given that the festival is in less than 3 weeks now... I would assume the "within the next week" timeframe. Haha.

For every show I've been to in recent memory, the internet has always been able to spoil a part of it for me. You can't help yourself, you wanna check out the setlist from the tour's opening night, or you check out an Instagram clip from the night before and see what the stage design is like etc etc.

....BUT for this Pumpkins set, this may be the first time in like 10 years where I have no idea what to expect! It's got me quite pumped. And they're one of those bands who's entire discography I know and adore, so I know regardless it won't be a let down. But keeping my hopes high for a deep cut Mellon Collie dive for the anniversary!

and to note, someone responded to that by saying "get on it before you get charge backs" to which riot fest laugh-reacted, which may be a little tone def considering the conversation surrounding them at the moment, haha

Woah. Wait. You're a Pumpkins fan?!! (JK!) is there a specific song you'd love for them to play that they might have a shot at playing but could be a deep-cut?

I'm notoriously bad among my friend group about surprises... In that I kinda hate them and therefore always spoil them for myself. That includes setlist for various tours. Haha.

So yeah, this will be the first time in what feels like forever that I'll have absolutely no idea what most of the bands will be playing! I'm pretty stoked about that!

A little. But they always do shit like that, haha. I guess they see the numbers, understand how many people there are actually complaining and commenting on those things, etc.

So I never quite know what to make of that sort of thing.

Riot Fest just updated the event time on Facebook. It now says from Thursday 9/16 @ 2:30pm to CST to Sunday, 9/19 at 10pm CSt.

So I guess doors will be at 2:30pm now on Thursday?

Adjusting times like that makes me think we must be getting more updates tomorrow.

EDIT: Yup! EventBrite says 2:30 now too.

Feel like that still has to be a placeholder, because don’t they contractually have to stop playing music at 9:30 on Sunday because the next day is a workday?

If we're talking Mellon Collie, I would LOVE to see them play Jellybelly, XYU and Bodies.
If we're including their entire discography, I'd love to see Wound, Shame, Geek USA and Let Me Give the World To You.

Pretty sure 10pm has always been the "curfew" time. Looking back, Bikini Kill ended things a little earlier (9:45) in 2019 but headliners typically end at 10pm - including Sunday.

Rad! I'm not even a superfan and "Jellybelly" and "Geek USA" are both on my short list too!

"Bodies" is SUCH a banger. Fingers crossed!

I've gotten damn lucky at the two Pumpkins shows i've been to to get some bangin deep cuts, but of the ones above do need Bodies, Wound, XYU. Would also want Tristessa, Silverfuck, Hello Kitty Kat, Galapagos, Perfect, and Heavy Metal Machine, if we're doing one from all the classic albums.

Well 10am CST has come and gone. Might be another no-news day here, folks.

Maybe, maybe not. They tweeted out that contest at 11am CST yesterday and there hasn't been anything tweeted yet today... Which means there's still a shot at more info.

But it's not feeling likely. And it is making me a bit nervous that the other festivals seem to have been able to find replacements fairly quickly...

I do feel pretty strongly that they'll drop the new acts and use that as a way to announce the schedule. So it could be any time between today and Thursday.

At this point if you gave me the choice between them just adding Less Than Jake and the Bayside tour package and announcing it now or them holding out until the end of this week and announcing another sub headliner or two, I would take the first option.

But I realize they’re not chasing my money, they’re trying to please the hoards of people who apparently were only interested in NIN and Pixies and just want another massive 90s band.

I don't understand buying a ticket to a festival and only being interested in two bands so high up on the line-up and nobody else. That would be like me buying a pass to Life is Beautiful just for Green Day, and then being furious if they were to cancel. Except that Riot Fest has plenty of acts that a fan of NIN or the Pixies should be able to enjoy immensely if they opened their minds a bit...

But anyway. I'm right there with you. In fact, I would just straight-up prefer that they add LTJ, Senses Fail, and/or the Bombpops to whatever bigger 90s legacy act they might be trying to book. LOL

I’m right there with you. My gut feeling is it’s Jane’s Addiction that they’re trying to corral, but they need the Slipknot money to come in before they can do it.

I doubt that's it. I'd imagine bands bailing frees up some cash...

I'm guessing they have a few more changes so it's more than just finding a single replacement. It's lining up multiple bands, signing off, etc.

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

For all we know, a few bands might’ve dropped already, and we don’t know yet. I’m honestly kinda expecting that when the announcement comes

it does seem like furnace fest, blue ridge, and the DWP shows are doing 'this band dropped, and this band added" announcements semi-regularly, riot is either having better luck than them, or biding their time to do it all in one big announcement.

EDIT to add that by 'better luck' in terms of quantity of bands in rapid succession. not sure how many other fests besides riot lost their #1, then lost their new #1, followed by another top tier, plus a few small bands..
