not really if you value the album format as a complete artistic statement

also i would say disrespectful to the art, not artist, but a ton of people dont respect art whatsoever anyway

I don't really think so at all, albums have narratives and flows even if they aren't as outright all the time. Definitely didn't mean it for every album, a lot are sort of thrown together, but this album clearly has a specific order.

I think there are just many different ways to listen to the same album. I listen to this at different points "as the artist intended" (in full), minus a couple of songs that don't click for me, in specific segments/runs, or in groups of tracks that fit a certain setting/mood. All have different significance and serve different purposes, but I don't consider any to be "disrespecting the art."

And these guys talk all the time about how they write music the way they consume it, hopping between genres and moods. If anything, I think their music deliberately encourages fans to self-select in different ways to suit the many contexts in which they listen to the band. Doesn't take anything away from the fact that the album was carefully and (maybe) primarily constructed to play as a whole.

I don't have a problem with not only listening to it all the way through or liking certain songs, I take issue with removing it completely and altering the statement the album makes. Like I said, it's no longer the album if you change it.

    Top 3:
    Somebody Else
    If I Believe You
    Lostmyhead

This could be my favorite album of all time at this point. I know that may seem silly to some peopke, but the six months I've spent with it have been nothing short of incredible and I'm still finding more things to love about it, which really speaks to all they intricacies and nuances to this album. I've never heard anything quite like this and very few albums have gotten the deep emotional response out of me like this has. I'll never forget listening to the trio of If I Believe You, Please Be Naked, and Lostmyhead for the very first time. I just remember having this big stupid grin on my face because I was zoning out and loving every second of it, and I eventually just laughed during the climax of Lostmyhead because I just couldn't believe what I was listening to at that point.

There is so much to discover and love on this album that actually deleting songs from it is so absurd to me because, like Jake said, you're removing any chance of that song growing on you. Nana used to be a bottom five song on this album for me at first, but it would be in my top five now. I guess I understand skipping songs (I never skip while trying to listen to something front to back), but removing that chance to let a song grow on you is distasteful.

HM: Nana as one of the two songs to ever make me cry more than once.

this is probably my most played 2016 album behind Goodness and maybe Cardinal. it's not on my top 5 but i'm still finding things to like about it.

i still haven't listened to the debut and, if it's half as good as this, i think it will cement them as my favorite new band this year.
