I have tons of obi’s on my vintage Japanese presses. Love them on those.

 

Now the Japanese releases I totally understand and actually think those are cool.

 

OBI's were popular in Japan because it was a way to set Japan CD's/Vinyl apart from other countries offerings. It was much cheaper for someone in Japan to import a CD from somewhere else, but the OBI kinda added the "different art" appeal. This is why a lot of "Bonus Track" CD versions are released in Japan as a way to get Japanese people to buy music there. It's kinda leaked as a style on vinyl records like on the most recent Underoath represses.

 

Speaking of obi’s, I did get this in today

Aesthetically, I think they're great. Functionally, they annoy the crap out of me.

 

I bought the Japanese obi strip version of Marietta - As It Were.

It is finally getting here next week after an anticipated ship date of early June. I was intrigued by it but probably the only obi strip I will buy.

 

You can either tuck it inside the gatefold sideways, or you can just put it around the gatefold flap.

Obi’s are really cool, and I love every record of mine that has one.

 

I've seen some bands integrate the obi into the actual album art, which I am totally okay with.

Red (Taylor's Version) Vinyl

Pretty shocked that this wasn’t pressed on red wax. Maybe the Target version will be red. I’m gonna hold off on pre-ordering I think.

 

in the split second before reading the link and your follow up text I asked myself man what if it isn’t pressed on red?

 

The super rare ACM/CMA version was on red.

Maybe they didn’t want to confuse people...even though that should be impossible considering it’s a completely different record. Lol

 

The original red Red vinyl is top of my list. Should have purchased it when it was going for under $100.

 

So the shop I got to a lot has blonde by Frank Ocean for sale. Had at least four copies last week and I’ll be going this week. It’s an import and not sure on color. It was going for $45 or so. Not sure how readily available this record is.

Really feel that the prices of vinyl are completely ridiculous - and make it a collector's market only

 

Seems like if you don't pre-order stuff you can forget about buying anything at a decent price, unless it's a hugely popular release.

 

I never meant to say it was a legit copy. Just wanted to throw that out there. A few years back they had a copy of Section 80 that I thought was too high in price. I went home to look at prices and discover it was competitive. It was gone when I went back the next day.

 

Biggest regret is not getting Blonde the day it was posted.

I would buy it in a heartbeat if repressed & have told myself if I ever get a cushy windfall of cash or do something huge I’ll reward myself with that record.
