    Well. It’s getting worse everyday.

and the RAGC repress is coming around, along with the Sinful Math boxset.

I know nothing, but it seems like Andy Hull LLC. and Manchester Orchestra LLC. are preparing for the possibility of another lost year.

i cancelled the patreon membership bc their content output was pretty meager but maybe i’ll resign if they do end up having to cancel shit

They are going to press RAGC again? That would be awesome. I’ve regretted not getting the book version of the most recent press.

We’ve got 7 Weeks to let it burn through the unvaccinated. Speed it up delta!

yikes. NIN canceled tours. Hopefully it’s only the really big acts.

My show isn't until March, so the entire world will be gone by then anyway.

This is total conjecture, but I feel like MO is in a tough spot with their fanbase & the vaccine thing. Think they stand to lose more fans than the average band if they required vaccines at shows.

I'm not understanding how they stand to lose more than others

if that's your title for folks not interested in the vaccine then yes. Plus they're a southern band where I presume they have more fans just due to proximity, familiarity, etc. and that's where the higher numbers of unvaccinated reside.

I don't think where you're from matters when you're famous around the globe tbh

We reach for the longest shadow

I really don't think that's the case at all. Anberlin recently said in their livestream they'll most likely go the route of most with the negative test/vaccine, and they're a "christian" rock band from Florida. Plus Atlanta isn't really southern like other parts of the south are.

Maybe those are the fans bands should be willing to lose out on in the short term. Or maybe seeing band you love should be incentive for some people.

People have over politicized the subject of vaccination. During a pandemic there are temporary restrictions, it’s unfortunate but so be it. There are lots of other pre existing restrictions at venues that people have just adapted too (no smoking policies, age restrictions, venue capacity restrictions, bag checks, etc). I don’t remember it deterring people that I know from attending shows.

At least the vaccine was provided to people at no cost (at least it most places), so this is not an issue of class system. Unfortunately you can’t please everyone as a touring band and unfortunately vaccine restrictions may make people feel excluded but that’s part of the choice for those who choose. The band will continue to tour hopefully for years to come and the state of the world an restrictions can change a lot (for better or worse) as well all experienced. Hopefully better though.

I do low-key hope my show gets rescheduled because I've burned through most of my time off at work for the year >_>. We don't separate sick days from vacation days and I've had some non-COVID health issues over the year.

lol Manchester orchestra is not some homegrown band that’s not as big outside of their local market. They’re huge across the country.

And look, bands like Manchester orchestra do stand to lose a lot, that’s why you’re seeing big names like nine inch nails and Neil young and such pull out of festivals that are still going to go on regardless. some bands have the privilege of being able to push back tours indefinitely. most dont. they’re gonna take the route of requiring vaccinations to enter over straight up cancelling

i think if the band members were the people they were even five years ago, i think you’d be right. it pains me to admit @ManchesterOrch8 might have been right, but i think the band members being new/somewhat new parents is going to lead to a postponement

They’re a band on the brink of being fully self sustainable.

Luckily for them, everyone is getting booked for session work on semi-large to huge projects. In addition to Prince still doing some carpentry work here and there when he can/needs to. But obviously, they do need this tour money to make their lives work as they normally would.

It’s unfortunate that life is being dictated by a largely ignorant bunch of folks.

You can have fans globally but still have more per capita as you get closer to your home town. They’re not mutually exclusive.

They will not lose large swaths of fans if they revert to a fully vax’d policy.

But, if I’m getting honest, I don’t believe they’ll do that. Though they likely won’t have to as most venues are adopting a policy.
