Johansson isn't exactly sympathetic, but this sort of stuff is a test case for future movies and actors and directors and writers. The studios are always going to cry poverty or claim that day-and-date releases are risky and too early to codify, but that is why people like Johansson have to sue. This has some similar issues as the writers strike back in 2007.

 

Yeah this case could set some major precedents and is going to be important for people in the film industry who aren’t of ScarJo’s stature

 

It sucks how these kinds of test cases always seem to involve people I could not possibly want to root for less

 

I look at this objectively. Personal feelings about Johansson and whether or not she's rich enough are frankly irrelevant to the fact that she did a job and should be fairly compensated for said job.

After all, as other people have pointed out, what affects one person can affect other people down the line that aren't in a position to properly defend themselves.

 

It's not just that she's already rich enough (although she definitely is). What makes people not want to root for her is that she's not a great person.

And also everyone recognizes why she's right and why this litigation needs to happen and is important. We just don't like that we have to root for Scarlett Johansson as the person bringing it.

I'd much rather be rooting for Emma Stone instead, for example, if she had chosen to sue over Cruella first.

 

I acknowledged this in my post. I'm not saying people shouldn't feel this way. I don't really care how other people deal with it; I'm just offering how I'm dealing with it.

 

Well you said personal feelings are irrelevant as if everyone here isn't already on board with that idea. Everyone here is looking at this objectively, that's why we all recognize that it's important she wins this case.

Only finally saw this today.

I thought it was alright, slightly slower beginning but enjoyed it once everyone was together.

now I know why Pugh is showing up in Hawkeye.
