Idk why but I have a feeling Johnathan isn’t vaccinated

A company as big as Live Nation likely already ran everything through legal and established a proper process to complete this action prior to communicating this publicly. My guess is the October date is to give unvaccinated people lead time to get fully vaccinated.

 

I still have no idea how they’re going to prove photos of vaccine cards are legit and/or take the time to cross reference photo with person’s ID.

 

Some limited tickets were released for the 2 Knocked Loose shows at the Metro, they were previously sold out

 

Have to imagine Aaron Lewis of Staind is probably like "WTF Guys!?! Just nut up and play. Guess I'll go get my tribal tattoos touched up instead." That guy would have toured last year if he could have.

 

It won't be fool-proof but for states like NY, the Excelsior pass does a good job with it. Both restaurants I went to this weekend here in NYC checked both card and ID.

 

I want to see Spiritbox and Every Time I Die so bad, but that’s an over 4 hour drive….

 

Testing positive and then continuing the tour 13 days later is a tight turnaround.

 

Aaron Lewis did your last year, like in the summer. He was gonna play San Diego (where I live) in October but canceled due to poor ticket sales.

 

Foxing show this weekend they checked vax cards and IDs and were definitely actually reading both because dude mispronounced my last name haha. Granted that wasn't a huge show volume wise but it was very quick and easy. And this is in a state that does not have a digital pass system and will not have one because our governor is quite possibly the dumbest elected official in the country and our vibes are very anti vax.

I really think where there's a will to make shows safe there's a way, especially when the artist and venue are both on board, and especially when fans are too. That show really encouraged me for shows going forward, I didn't see a single person not wearing a mask the whole night except when quickly taking a sip of a drink then putting it right back on. Including when going nuts in the pit. It was honestly astounding, I haven't seen that kind of compliance in any place I've been in during the pandemic, in Missouri or elsewhere. Take that with the vax entry being super easy and well organized and it feels doable. Would love to see more shows here go vax only and stop allowing negative tests but I do hope that's coming soon more and more

 

Giving the option of negative PCR test seems like a way of presenting an alternative, yet annoying way to get into the show that will hopefully lead to more vaccinations. Doing it once might not be that big of an issue to someone not vaxed, but if someone goes to shows 2-3+ times a month it'll just be more of an inconvenience to have to schedule a test before every show. Which will hopefully lead to people just saying fuck it and pulling the trigger on getting vaccinated. Maybe that's just me being too optimistic and trying to read into it too much though.

 

It just seems pretty easy to get a picture of someone elses card and photoshop the name.

Are they doing anything to verify the card is legit?

I just worry that none of this is really doing anything but it's all they can try to do when half the people dont want to get vaxxed.

 

At this stage, I think it's fair to give venues a pass on worrying about fakers.
It's more important to institutionalize the rules/attitude before they start trying to refine things.

 

In the article about Live Nation requiring vaccines & negative tests, they stated "12% of fans said Lolla was actually their reason for getting vaccinated", which doesn't exactly address your point, but I think it backs up the idea that eventually people are going to give in if they want to do something enough. Another article I read yesterday talks about how NYC is using FOMO as a part of their vaccine strategy (written by the person who coined the term FOMO)

 

You're also not going to ever get 100% accuracy. The point is to get enough people through the door that are vaccinated as opposed to it being a free for all and not having any kind of requirement.

90% truly vaccinated at a vax card required show is better than a show with no rules at all

 

I know someone who got vaxxed specifically to go to a festival, and otherwise they weren’t gonna do it, lol.

Maybe that’s gonna be the incentive to get more people vaxxed
