Donnie Darko is actually still tough for me to get through and it's a shame because, visually, it's fucking awesome. I just haven't been able to connect on the level that I'd like to, but I keep trying!

Donnie Darko was my absolute favorite movie in high school, but I revisited it a couple years back and it did not hold up for me

 

It definitely doesn’t capture my attention like it did when I was 13 obviously haha. And I think that’s why I only watch once a year now probably and that’s in October.

 

I live right down the street from the Darko's and Swayze's house from the movie so that's fun.

I still enjoy it and watch it once a year, but my head didn't explode the first time I saw it like most of my friends and people my age.

A guy I went to school with had a psychotic break after watching it where he thought the movie was real. At least that was the story going around.

 

I’m not sure if this is going to be horror or not, but it sounds like it might kind of be.

Thought the trailer just looked okay but what a cast

 

It was okay… I think I expected something kind of insane like Mandy but it was very mild comparatively. Completely different types of movies though. Not sure why Nic Cage said that quite about THIS movie but not Mandy haha.

That poster ruuuules though.

 

Anyone see don't breathe 2 yet? Just watched the first again and God damn is Stephen Lange so good in this role. His physicality is just so scary

 

I just saw 2 last night and it makes some choices

I went in thinking if they did what the trailer made it look like they did I wouldn't be on board and that was the case

 

Are they trying to make a rapist the protagonist in the second one? Don't wanna get on board with that if they are.

 

I didn't even like the first one all that much

 

I really wish the first one just made him out as a guy protecting his house. The torture stuff fucking sucked and ruined it for me.

 

Idk it was definitely unexpected and set up pretty well. It's fucked up but he did make that wild evil dead remake

 

Two more episodes of Brand New Cherry Flavor. Doesn't lean very hard into the horror. Definitely some strong Lynch vibes. If you like Twin Peaks or Channel Zero, I'd say its worth a watch. The whole cast is great.

 

The twist in Don't Breathe worked for me in the sense that it feels closer to a genuine, modern exploitation/grindhouse film than anything I've ever seen. Def don't feel great about him being a protagonist, but am admittedly interested in anything Alvarez has his hands in.

 

Watched Tremors 4 and Critters 3 last night, sometimes you just gotta knock a few rough ones off your list

 

gonna need more than a six pack for this one i think

I've never not wanted to see a movie this bad that I didn't want to see but I wanted to.

I am in the minority that did not enjoy Don’t Breathe at all. Plot is good on paper but the movie stunk and the characters consistently make “idiot plot” choices to keep it going. I also never want to see a turkey baster again.

 

It's definitely a once and done film for me. Also...yea I find the characters to be extremely unlikeable.
