Oooo. Love a good “does this sound like Radiohead or not” debate

To me, the most Radiohead-ish thing to me was some of the guitar “licks” (not sure if it’s the right term?) in the song sounds like Paranoid Android to me?

yeah this is actually the most fair comparison. people always talk about riley being responsible for that kind of stuff - probably bc he talks about bands like radiohead a lot and is a lot more vocal than the other members - but often times it’s teppei’s stuff that pushes the boundaries the most.

I’m not gonna listen (and no, I’m not wearing that as a self-righteous badge of honor), but the enthusiasm in here really makes me super excited!

Looking down through armored glass, above a field of fire and ash. And from this height it’s hard to even tell just what it’s like outside the suit—the terror, and the torn up roots—the lives you’ve helped to make a living hell. But there’s another way to face the unforeseen—you don’t have to stay inside of that machine. Staring up across the wreck, a single figure stands erect—they shout and wave, so tiny and absurd. And moved by curiosity you crack and lift the canopy, and, straining, you can just make out their words: “There’s another way to face the unforeseen—you don’t have to stay inside of that machine. There’s a bigger game, and there’s a deeper dream. So please, come down now —come out from where you’ve been. Please, come down now—come out and start again. I know you’re scared, but so are we. And if you dare, you’ll start to see that there’s another way.”

It's wonderful, only listened once and loved it.

Btw for future reference the most Radioheadish is The Great Exchange. Beggars is Thrice's In Rainbows. All other opinions are wrong, I have spoken

(Just to make it clear, I'm not entirely serious. You have loads of RH influences all over, Water and Air, Blood On Blood, Circles, etc, but I also love to compare Thrice's evolution to how Radiohead sort of also reinvented themselves and don't stick to a specific style)

Becoming convinced 7/4 makes any song automatically good haha. My favorite odd time signature for sure

The moment at 50 seconds where the lead guitar part swells in. chef's kiss

The first 2 minutes of this song is my fav kind of Thrice.

Also loving how he finishes each line in the chorus with the "shakey falsetto"

Teppei should produce everything they do from here on out. This shits on Palmquist across the board

The lyrics on these two tracks are so much better than anything on their last two albums.

  19. that little trailing falsetto/high register vibrato humming kinda thing dustins doing on both singles so far is very cool
