Cool for Dominic Fike. Dude is just on the edge of going mainstream

 

Just finished binging this. It was…a bit much in the beginning and didn’t grab me that much. BUT the characters really grew on me and I was hooked at episode two. I got big Bojack Horseman vibes during the two special episodes. The writing is top-notch.

Damn the ending of the season premiere was wild

 

That Jules and Rue scene at the end of the ep was stunning. The use of Ektochrome was incredible too.

Was happy the show was back last night, but man I forgot 95% of anything that happened in season 1. I cant even remember why Fez doesnt like the the other guy. And I feel like they make this show too much of a nail biter.

One thing about this show that I have a pedantic gripe with is that I refuse to believe that Zoomer teens share the same party rap mix playlists of every 30 something Millennial I ever met.

A 17 year old isn't playing the same Snoop Dogg and DMX songs that I ripped from Limewire in 2006. It feels like the music supervisor is a nostalgic 33 year old. I was halfway expecting to hear Three 6, Jeezy, Crime Mob, or The Carter I-III era Wayne next.

Season premiere is one of the best episodes of the series, I'm glad this is back. I hope Lexi and Fez's friendship stays pure

And Nate deserved what he got and more

 

It's silly to the point that they must be aware of it. I mean, season 1 had high schools girls making The Wire references and I'm pretty sure Cassie dressed up as a True Romance character for Halloween lol. It's definitely "a mid-thirties white male writer" taste filtered through teenagers, but it's so obvious that it has to be an intentionally unrealistic choice.

 

Nate being an Orville Peck fan was kinda weird too

 

Just watched all of Season 1 for the first time today and I'm just enthralled. Really well done show, especially for a cast so big, dealing with such sensitive subject material. Excited for Season 2!

 

Just finished EP1 of the new season, and HOLY SHIT, what a damn rush.

 

Yeah i was rewatching some season 1 last night and i got the feeling of "This isn't a show about Zoomers for a Zoomer audience, this a show for a predominantly Millennial audience projecting themselves onto Zoomers"

It'd be like if on The O.C the entire cast just made Gen X references all the time and the soundtrack was filled with Pearl Jam.

This is why i respect Bo Burnham's choice while writing Eight Grade to consciously not allow himself to project himself or his mid-2000's middle school experience onto a character a generation younger than him.

 

I love fez because his name is Angus Cloud so we might be brothers tbh

 

Just finished the first ep. I'm glad we finally got a happy(?) ending to an episode, but I fear for what's to come.
