Degradation Trip is truly a work of art if any of y'all haven't got around to it. harrowing stuff but beautiful

wasn't sure about it on my first listen, was expecting something like Deg Trip and got something more like radio rock haha. I'm sure it'll grow tho, Jerry doesn't miss

I actually like the self-titled album the least. It's been very hard for me to gel with, every time I've tried.

I'd probably bump up BGWTB one spot, but it's still a good list.

    hmmm

I've become more and more interested in the s/t recently, partly because it's pretty obvious why someone might not click with it. It's arguably ten minutes too long. It meanders, the vocals are more spacey, the belted semi-anthemic cathartic choruses are mostly stripped away. Dirt 2, it is not.

But if you can settle into its depressive haze then you probably love it. I'm one of those. I think it defies criticism in that way; its flaws are its strengths and all that.

I also like that Layne's voice was a little more effected and submerged in the mix, just like I think it's cool that a similar thing was done at times with Maynard's voice on Ænima a year later. If Layne's yelling out his pain on Dirt, he's more submitted to it on the s/t. It seems like an authentic snapshot.

I'd also just like to add that Shame in You is the greatest song they ever wrote

Assuming this is a Jar of Flies 30th anniversary release, possible tour or some such wonderfulness!
