I'd still put HF above ITM, but those are my top 2 easy.

hot fuss isn’t that good. it’s got like five good songs. they’re pretty close to perfect songs but that’s a lot of shit i never need to hear again

Seriously underrated. I sing it to myself after every minor accomplishment I achieve.

User before me said it was awful ha. I recall it getting pretty mixed reviews here in the WW thread. Either way, I love it.

I just revisited WW for the first time in what feel likes a while but some of these tracks are pretty forgettable and do nothing for me. Before listening I couldn’t even tell you what the last 4 songs even sounded like.

    Rut rules, though.

Weird, I always thought the consensus was that it was a fun song. I feel that way, at least!

I very well may be mid-remembering, but I’m with you either way!

Also, Flamingo rules and I hate seeing it towards the bottom of so many lists. I think Swallow It is quite bad, and should have been swapped out for Clock Was Tickin’, but the rest is pretty great.

    Things have changed.

I haven't listened in a long time but I remember liking Flamingo a lot.

It's probably because The Killers were overplayed to absolute death during the HF era, but I think I prefer 2nd half to 1st half. The only song on the album I truly never had as a favourite was "Andy, You're A Star" but I can appreciate how weird it is.

Some songs get overplayed for a good reason. The Hot Fuss singles fall into that category. How ubiquitous they were (and in the case of "Brightside," still are) has yet to dull their impact for me.

That's what is so odd to me. HF still feels so fresh to me.

I think part of it is that they were never really that band again. Sam’s Town is a very different sound. Different influences, production, Brandon even sings differently. And every record that followed is more of a piece with Sam’s Town than Hot Fuss. The result, for me at least, is that Hot Fuss always feels like a classic movie that never got a sequel. Which makes it feel that much more awesome.

Obviously the first five songs rip but I’ve always had a soft spot for “Believe Me Natalie” and “Midnight Show.”

"Change Your Mind" is one of their best pop songs and should have been a single.

Agreed. I didn't even know this song was on Hot Fuss until '06/'07, because I'd downloaded the UK version of the album way back when.

Ironically enough, my Hot Fuss vinyl is a UK import, so it's missing from there, too. Still need to grab a US copy.

I remember when they announced the U.S. repress that all the sites were showing the UK track list. I was going to be a little disappointed if I finally got that album on vinyl and it was missing one of my favorite tracks. “Indie Rock and Roll” is fun too, though.

Every track on Hot Fuss rules. On Top slaps. Everything Will Be Alright is unhinged. Change Your Mind is super underrated.
