Does it even make sense for the Mets to go after someone like Scherzer when Carrasco and deGrom are likely coming back soon?

The Mets play 13 straight games against the Dodgers and Giants in August, the 2 teams theyll potentially need to get through to get to a WS. You simply cannot have bullpen days against those teams. They need pitching insurance and they need it now (or before the 31st).

Honestly, the Mets’ august will determine if theyre september contenders. This could be an absolutely brutal month.

That’s true. I guess my point is just going off of the report they are interested in Scherzer and that would cost a lot of prospects for a rental ace we may or may not even need to make a run.

Im all for adding another pitcher of good caliber, but no need for a star like Scherzer who would undoubtedly require trading a lot of value

 

maybe, maybe not. Hes UFA in 2022. He could walk and the Nats could get nada for him. Maybe a decent prospect and a lineup guy they can use now turns their heads. I think Scherzer to the Mets is maaybe the least realistic - but - i don’t think it would take a blockbuster package.

 

Can’t wait till the Rays burst all the bubbles by snagging Max in the trade of the century
