I think there are people here who will check out the album, which I understand from a curiosity standpoint, but yeah I don’t think any of us support him right now or have for the past few album cycles.

This is probably the biggest change of an opinion i have had on an artist. He was on top 5/10 artists from the debut right up to MBDTF, but now? I doubt i’ll check this out. If i do it will be a morbid curiosity kind of thing.

 

I’ll check it out to dump all over it if anything.

Yet every album that gets released, there’s a thread about it. There are hundreds of talented hip hop artists that deserve 10 page long discussions, but they die after about 2 pages.

 

lmfao everyone complains that Kanye albums still get threads yet the vast majority of posts in them are people talking shit

 

Don't know what to tell you. I didn't make the thread and it's natural for people to want to talk about a release of this magnitude, positive or negative. I created the past two Navy Blue threads iirc and am active in other threads for hip-hop releases I enjoy (Vince Staples, Brockhampton, Tyler, Navy Blue, Earl Sweatshirt, etc.). You can't force people listen to something/participate in discussion and it seems seems dumb to forbid people from talking about a major release. As @sophos34 said, it's 90% shit talking anyways lol.

 

I mean Kanye sucks but he’s a huge artist. He’s going to get more discussion than other artist.

 

This website has been around for like two decades I don’t understand how people still don’t get this concept

 

I mean look, I get it, my job was to review hip hop records for three years on absolutepunk, it would be nice if the site had a larger hip-hop fan base, but it doesn’t and switching over to chorus obviously the user base became a lot more static, you don’t get as many people wandering into the site and forums as we used to get, the people who post here are the people who post here and that’s pretty much that. There is still a dedicated group of hip hop fans on the site and the hip hop thread is active and full of good stuff, I’m not surprised or upset that smaller rap artists don’t get their own threads that take off, it happens with artists in every genre these days you’re not getting a 10+ page album thread out of anyone that isn’t already an established, well known name for the user base that posts on the forums regardless of what genre they are. It is what it is and complaining about it seems pointless, and it’s not even that big of a deal, chorus is a great community with great people and music to discover but this isn’t the end all be all of music discussion and discovery

 

I’m someone who thinks people should definitely participate in threads for smaller artists of all genres, but Kanye is a big artist who has been a huge presence on here/AP and it’s not surprising people are interested in discussing it. It’s not like there’s no hip hop discussion on here or anything. People still do talk about those artists. They just also talk about Kanye sometimes too.
