How do they mess it up so badly? Some of this stuff should be really easy.

 

It's actually more baffling to me than it usually is. In the past, when they've had two separate writing teams for the major shows, you could point to one being more adept/less polluted by Vince McMahon and confidently say that's the reason one show is faring so much better over the other. At other times, both shows have been horrible and that more or less answers itself.

Here, though, it's really strange. As far as I know, the same team has been working on Raw and Smackdown for quite some time now. I think SD is, by and large, in a pretty good place. It's not a perfect show by any means, and the tag division and undercard need some serious work and attention to detail, but Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman, and the Usos have been lights out fantastic every single moment they're on screen for the better part of a year. Granted, a lot of that is them making the performances come to life, but someone is writing it and Vince is has got his hands all over it it, while also letting the garbage that airs on Monday night slip by.

 

There's a reason when RAW was good, it had a name in common with that list above.

Not even that Heyman is some magic writer or anything...but, he clearly has an ability to filter shit and know how to nudge bad ideas to at least workable ideas

For sure, I just dont know what they do with them in the short-term. Presuming Hangman wins the belt, you end up with a bunch of red-hot faces (Darby, Moxley, Punk, Bryan, Cassidy), all with nowhere to go, and you've got several young guys (MJF, Jungle Boy, Darby, Sammy, etc) that dont seem likely to be in the title picture for years if they get Punk/Bryan.
