Sandman in there twice now. Joaquin Phoenix in there at all? I don't think so!

Incredible month. Uncut Gems, Ratcatcher upgrade, some Bogart, Devi, let’s goooo.

First A24 film in the collection, but someone pointed out it probably has more to do with Netflix having some of the rights as well. So we’ll see what comes of it.

    hey you lil piss baby

The Shindo and the Ray are the big ones for me, though neither film so near my favourite from either filmmaker. I’m not in a rush to grab any of these but it’s a solid slate of releases.

Very excited to pick up After Hours in a couple weeks though.

Where is the best place to start with Bela Tarr?

He only has 9 feature films. Looks like most people seem to agree that his 5th film is where it really gets to the A+ material. Starting with Damnation and going forward sounds like a solid way to go.

I like starting at the beginning and working my way up to see how the director's change.

My WKW set got backordered so I canceled and subsequently went buckwild at my B&N. Think I'm done for now. Haven't seen any of these except Straw Dogs.

    Mirror
    Flowers of Shanghai
    Kwaidan
    The Vanishing
    Deep Cover
    Straw Dogs
    Woman in the Dunes
    Mishima
    Che (Part 1 and 2)

Deep Cover is so great. I bought Mishima at a recent B&N sale, I should get around to watching it

Werckmeister Harmonies is much more conventional. Satantango is great but it is 20 hours long. The Turin Horse almost feels like Tarr was trolling people about what they would sit through.

Made my own “Criterion Closet”, cut some strips of cardboard from some old vinyl shippers lying around so the blu rays could stand up right. Only missing The Friends of Eddie Coyle and Throne of Blood which are on my nightstand. Wife wasn’t crazy about where I had them stacked before (above the guest bed shelf).

also, the Fellini box is a real pain in the butt to display. Pizza box/board game design makes it tough.

My wallet is conflicted about this. I knew it was coming, and I don’t need to upgrade my blu-rays but not upgrading The Red Shoes or Mulholland Drive is gonna be tough. But excited to grab the new combo packs.

it’s also gonna make it harder to pick up some of the old blu rays I want even though theoretically it would criterion decades to upgrade everything.
