  1. Interesting

  2. If that deal happens I’m guessing we’ll see a lot more of false-9 Harry Kane

What happens to Son in (I'm guessing) a 3-5-2 system? He doesn't deserve to be dropped or even be a rotation player. Is he stalling on a new contract offer or something?

  4. Son contract talks have reportedly gone very well and he wants to stay. I’m guessing it’ll be announced soon. But I can’t say I know what the plan is for the formation lol

Son would probably play wide, and rotate in and out with Kane/Ings whenever one is inevitably injured

  6. I’ve read that the idea is for Tomiyasu to play RB in our base formation, but in attack he would stay back to form a back 3, allowing Reguilon to join the attack on the left side.

So maybe a 442 with Son wide, but in attack he plays a little higher with Reguilon also pushing up?

    I don’t know.

  7. Stadium naming rights and an additional shirt sponsor both getting done this week should take some of the financial burden off the club. I hope it means a little extra cash for transfers but you never know with this club.

My team of the tournament is probably:

    GK: donnaruma

    RB: Dumfries
    CB: Maguire
    CB: Bonucci
    LB: Spinazzola

    CM: Rice
    CM: Jorginho
    CM: Xhaka

    LW: Sterling
    RW: Damsgaard
    CF: Lukaku

Edit: How did I forget Pedri?!

I'd be tempted to put Schick in the team of the tournament.

Sancho is having his medical today.

Gio Reyna is getting the #7 jersey for Dortmund it seems.

Does anyone have Shaw as their left back in these teams of the tournament?

Shaw was good but Spinazzola was unreal, his injury definitely slowed Italy down.

    GK: Donnaruma

    CB: Chiellini
    CB: Bonucci
    CB: Maguire

    RW: Damsgaard
    CM: Verrati
    CM: Jorginho
    CM: Pedri
    LW: Spinazzola

    F: Sterling
    F: Schick

I think I'd run a 3-5-2 with this line-up for team of the tournament. Feels weird to leave most of the best defense (England) off of this list, but Chiellini and Bonucci had immense tournaments.

I'd have Shaw in, but that's pure bias. Spinazzola was unreal during the tournament.

Incredible tournament, but Busquets and Jorginho were just as good/if not better in the same position. Jorginho got the nod in my list solely because he was the winner.

My guess at what’ll happen: Messi, Lewandowski, and one of Jorginho/Donnarumma/Kante. Honorable mention to Benzema and de Bruyne.

Dumfries to Everton looks a goer (again).

  20. Dumfries and Digne would be a combo for Everton’s fullbacks.

Basically ensures you have to play 3 at the back, is that something Everton have been doing?

We did it loads last season with a 3-5-2/3-4-1-2 hybrid. We have no out and out wingers at the club except for Richarlison who can "do a job" there, Gordon who is a relative novice and Iwobi who has become a running joke, so that effectively rules out a 4-2-3-1 unless of course we suddenly sign some wingers that we're not being linked to. Our other rumours consist of centre backs (White and Lenglet) and a central midfielder (Glen Kamara). Interestingly, though, Benitez played a 4-3-3 in our first pre-season friendly v Accrington Stanley a couple of days back.

Could still be a back 4. I'm confused.
