Yeah I didn’t even mean open world only.

Skyrim is a weird one. There are good arguments for and against it being one if not the greatest.

 

Nothing is coming to mind so far for me except my first few hours with Returnal. I don't even think it's recency bias, when it released at midnight i had all the lights off and my pulse headphones on and it truly made that world come alive in a way i've never experienced.

I definitely have other settings I have loved but I have so many generic JRPG settings stuffed in my brain I can't think of one right now.


The opening of the second act of DQXI was a really cool experience.

 

idk if ill ever actually play the dirt cheap copy of witcher 3 i picked up - ive tried to watch videos of people playing it on youtube to psyche myself up but it looks extremely boring

Turns out Shadow's Edge and Stilton Manor have yet another thing in common. Ugh I'm really loving this game.

About to be a blindfolded 70 star run of Mario 64 on GDQ if that's your bag. Blows my mind.

Yeah I think my top 3 western RPG’s are:

1) Mass Effect 2
2) Fallout 3
3) The Witcher 3

HM: DA:I and Oblivion

 

Oblivion combat is abysmal, but the world building/quests are excellent. The DB questline alone makes it an exceptional game.

 

Fable 2 was also a fantastic game, and a huge improvement imo of the original. Plus I loved the card game in it. Tho nothing beats Gwent.

 

think about it combat is bad in all wrpgs but i enjoy elder scrolls combat despite all its jank

I really think the new Fable that Playground are developing is going to be something special

 

I never played any Fable and always wanted to. Are there remasters? I know they are on gamepass

 

The first game had a remaster a ways back with extra content, it’s called Fable Anniversary. It’s still pretty dated visually nowadays, but I’d say it’s worth playing. You can probably skip 3

 

Fable 1 kind of changed everything for me. I love that game.

 

Fable 1 and 2 are perfect games to me.

 

Best western RPG is idk probably KOTOR or New Vegas
