While I largely agree, I do think there is a segment of the potential audience who probably pays a lot less attention to content of the commentary than you or I. Just the mere fact that JR is the voice - whether he's competent or not, will surely carry weight with some people.

There are undoubtedly people who see AEW as a major league promotion based in no small part on the fact that they were able to get the most recognizable wrestling commentator of all time. That's why I don't think we're hearing any credible information coming out of the AEW camp about replacing him. They still see value.

 

Random, but Chris Daniels could potentially be a cool commentator one day too. Dude's a great promo.
