lol way off. she's not really an actor so much as she is a celebrity, but she's incredibly, incredibly famous. just not with anyone over the age of, like, 25.

we're in the world where social media stars are every bit as big as more traditional styles of celebs. she is absolutely more famous/a bigger name than stevens/braugher.

how is it strange to make a distinction that a very obviously and wildly famous person is a famous person lol. y’all are the ones always like “social media famous isn’t real famous” lol

Don't know who y'all is in this context, but Madelyn Cline is not an A-list movie star. Doesn't matter how many Instagram followers she has, because Knives Out 2 isn't premiering on Instagram. Josephine Langford has 3.7M followers and no one who knows anything about movies would call After or After We Collided movies with A-list casts. Sabrina Carpenter has 26M and Liza Koshy has 19M and the cultural impact of Work It is basically non-existent. There's no evidence that social media personalities alone can bring any kind of box office clout, and there's no evidence that Hollywood values someone like Madelyn Cline any more or less than someone like Dan Stevens.

i would say the fact that she’s 23 and cast in a movie alongside ethan hawke and james bond with one credit to her name essentially shows that lol. but, in any case, look at another cast member of knives out 1 starring in It, one of the biggest success stories the last few years, to immediately disprove that.

ive never seen this girl act in anything. i do not care about her career and genuinely think casting people bc of these followings is a bad thing. but pretending she’s on the same level of those two is pretty hilarious. the most notable credit stevens has had in the last three years is a tv show (that is incredible) that made less of an impact than outer banks. his biggest credit to date completely obscures his face. come on.

The most notable credit Dan Stevens has had in recent years is Eurovision.

I had not heard of her until the casting news tbh. And I’m also also super “with it” as the kids say.

A superstar in one industry isn't necessarily one in another. That's how you get things like Taylor Swift as the 17th lead of a Garry Marshall movie, Bella Poarch's first single peaking at just #56 in the US, and whatever Jeremy Renner does in his free time.

oh sure. i’m sure she’ll be in the movie for like half of two scenes, if that. but she’s cast entirely off of fame alone. it’s not like they have that much else to go off of. it’ll get some percentage of her followers to see a movie she’s barely in and she’ll get paid a big check for her trouble. it’s fine.

i like dan stevens and andre braugher a lot. there was never much of a chance either of them would be in any sort of a significant role in a movie this size not made for children. it’s unfortunate but they’re tv, and largely small scale tv, actors.

I wouldn't think Braugher would be only because he's basically retired but someone like him -- a long and well-respected career across genres -- is always a possibility for a small role in a Rian Johnson movie because Rian Johnson has both taste and class. After all, he's cast Garrett Dillahunt in Looper, Ricky Jay in Brothers Bloom and Riki Lindhome and Edi Patterson in Knives Out.

or maybe the casting directors liked her work on Outer Banks and thought she’d be a good fit for this movie?

    I do not exist.

Interesting that Rian Johnson in his tweet saying the filming had started refers to it as a Benoit Blanc mystery. I hadn’t considered the title of the second film here but is there a chance it won’t be Knives Out 2 but will be a completely different title? The knives were a key theme and part of the imagery to the first one, hence the title. I wonder if this will just have a different, unrelated name, like a Poirot mystery.

Or part of the fun is continuing the knife theme.

I had assumed that he would want it to have its own title but that it may be difficult to convince Netlfix, who paid an insane amount of money for them, to let him do that completely.

My guess is it’ll be called Knives Out with a subtitle, but not Knives Out 2

Wouldn’t really make sense if “Knives Out” was part of the title given that that title was specifically connected to the plot of the first film. Johnson constantly calling it “a new Benoit Blanc mystery” and the Christie/Poirot similarities makes me think it will have a totally different title.

All the Poirot stories have different titles after all. Calling this Knives Out 2 would be like if Death on the Nile was called “Murder On The Orient Express 2”.

I hope it’s called Suns Out, Guns Out

but yeah, I always assumed it wouldn’t be “knives out 2”
