Yeah I can’t seem to find anything on it

Let's hold our breath until we disappear

The chorus to this song is a little tribute to Feeling This.

Travis worked on this whole album.

I was just going to come in and post about that album. Honestly, even though I'm not in the demo for it, this album fucking rules. VERY 2001-2004 Blink 182.

Yea, a few songs in and I’ll definitely be listening to this album all summer. Wonder how well it will sell since this kid is huge on tiktok (I think?)…

I can't imagine it doing MGK numbers, but he's definitely getting a lot of kids into it. I imagine around 40-60k is reasonable.

I just can't get into how edited those vocals sound

  7. Fun album in the new pop-punk sound. Not as good as Kenny imo (but not much is).

Definitely will be listening to for a while, I dig it more than Mod Sun, little less than Girlfriends on first listen.

the only new Barker-era artist I just haven't felt at all has been Mod Sun. Kenny's is really incredible.

"Could a reunion happen? “Never say never,” Barker says. “I talk to Tom all the time. We send funny texts and stuff. The times of bad blood and the misunderstandings between us are so over with. It’s all love. We all three talk, and we’re all friends. So, yeah, I will never say never. I think if the time was right and it just made sense…”

This part stood out - it is great to hear (as we kind of expected) that all three are on great terms now.

I don't really have much interest in hearing new work from a reunited OG lineup (and would worry that it would sour the relationship again) but it would be amazing to see them get together for a greatest hits tour or Enema start to finish.

I want a new album, but I would be equally content if Travis went to focus on producing / solo stuff, Mark did Simple Creatures, Matt went back to AK3 & Tom focused on AVA & then the OG lineup would just reunite for a few shows here and there.

I think I like Simple Creatures and the Kennyhoopla EP most out of anything anyone from blink has put out since they broke up the first time

There's definitely going to be another album (given all goes well with Mark's treatment). I'd be happy with another one with Skiba, too. They just need someone who'll help them trim some fat on the next record. Maybe Travis' new producing role will help with that. It would be cool to see Blink become at least a semi-prominent band again thanks to Travis being a popular public figure again.

Finally had some time to process this Mark news regarding his cancer.
Very hopeful for him and his journey as it seems like he's got the right attitude to handle the mentally draining process. The news hit like a ton of bricks as these larger figures in our lives are subconsciously "immortal" and feel like nothing bad can happen to them, when in reality, we're all growing older. These guys aren't the same bop-around Enema of the State 90's rockers that blew up in the scene anymore.

Thoughts on blink for this process:
-Mark's writing could be very helpful for him and create some intense lyrics/themes for new blink in the future.
-Blink touring may drastically change in the future. Depending on how well he handles this, Mark could retire from touring in less than 10 years which is not a very long time.
-Retiring from touring could result in a very large "goodbye" tour which could spark a "AVA, +44, blink" type of send-off with Tom joining for a few shows.

^My mind is all over the place with these thoughts, but just interesting to think about with Mark's health and the band's future. Hoping all for the best for Mark! blink life, for life.

MGk/MODSUN/jxdn/KennyHoopla really is the worst way for pop-punk to make a "comeback." They all fall to the same major issues. 1) the vocalists are not good, they are bad singers with nothing unique to make them stand out. Completely faceless. Think of any pop-punk vocalist from the peak, each one sounded like no one else, brought something special to the table, and you could pick them out of a lineup without being told who they are. 2) the music itself is void of anything unique, it's watered down pop-punk that's been done a thousand times, no unique hooks, not doing anything exciting, just taking the lowest common denominator and presenting it to a new generation

and MGK is a terrible horrible person, so that certainly doesn't help either

I agree with this partially. I do think kennyhoopla has a unique voice. I think what they fall flat in they make up in marketability, which was severely lacking in the mainstream scene from like 2010-2020 for pop punk artists.

oh yeah, these new kids can market themselves like CRAZY. Add blackbear and YUNGBLUD into this conversation too, can't believe I missed them. They are all great at social media, marketing, creating a "crew" etc. You're right that Kenny has a unique voice, I'll give ya that, but musically it's definitely paint by numbers

    1) Mod Sun is a really technically proficient singer. But honestly, completely disagree that vocal talent matters all that much compared to vocal delivery, which they all rip at. Even then, It's about charisma and marketability. All the artists are you named are entertaining personalities that have the ability to turn heads. That matters a whole lot more and is the reason they've been successful.

    2) Subjective as hell. The hip-hop influence is a humungous breath of fresh air and the big hooks are back. One thing I love about this stuff in particular is the dialed back arrangements. Not every chorus needs to be this brick wall of sound and this approach is 100% more palatable for mainstream audiences.

The main thing I really like is that it's fun again. Big hooks, larger-than-life rockstar personas, fun music videos. All of them seem to embody that and I do like the hip-hip influence on it. I wish Juice WRLD was here to further it even more. This is what I've wanted pop punk to be for so long, and something that sorely been missing from the genre.
