this is just a random thought but lil baby’s verse on wants and needs is so good that it has me strongly considering checking out his last album. I’ve casually liked some features he has done plus some singles he has but man it’s too good that it makes me wanna check out the last album.

Is this another one with the same sample or is the same one that was everywhere about a month back?

There was this one and then a reaction to it on the same beat, but this one was bigger

The thing, I’ve been reading about what is going on here, and it’s bad

I see absolutely no correlation between Da Baby and Ludacris.

    None whatsoever.

They both have a very specific, fun style, blew up, and were on a ton of features for a certain time period. I get the comparison career-wise but musically they aren't that similar.

Yeah they definitely share a similar boisterous, larger-than-life personas. I don’t necessarily agree, but I get it

It definitely makes more sense as an aesthetic comparison than like “their songs sound the same”

He's had to raise his game considering he's recently been on tracks with Freddie, Joey, Westside Gunn and Tierra Whack. Not surprised, but still a little surprised, by the production on his new one and that it's straight up rap. Definitely giving it a listen.

I was about to post my full thoughts in the album thread but I personally think he's gotten better on every single album and I think he still pulled that off here somehow. My strongest first listen to an album in a while

Reckon a few people on here will enjoy this. Vocally, he's like an Irish slowthai. Better beat selection too. Sounds a bit Mac Miller-esq in places too, especially the tracks with the jazzier beats.

Everything before Flower Boy is unlistenable to me because of his repeated use of the f slur. Flower Boy and Igor are great though.

    Just a friendly reminder

Odd Future and early Tyler really only worked in the context of being an edgy punk teenager who thought being offensive was the pinnacle of hilarity. I was in high school at their peak so I was down (and even still, I felt uncomfortable sometimes. That was sort of the appeal too I guess?) but yeah, obviously it hasn't aged well AT. ALL. The ultimate "you had to be there". No point in checking it out if you missed it the first time.

New album rules though. A clear sign of Tyler's growth as a person as anything.

Damn that sucks. Blackalicious we’re among the first groups I got in to with the underground hip hop scene back in The early 2000s. I feel like everybody’s mind was blown hearing Alphabet Aerobics the first time.
