New Isaiah Rashad is amazing

 

Allegedly he was gonna drop on the 25th but TDE pushed it back so he didn't compete with Tyler. Could see him dropping the 2nd instead

 

Kendrick opening the Yeezus tour wasn't great but the way he used a band on the Kunta Grooves shows was amazing.

I agree, it depends on the artist/material. I don't want to see Playboi Carti perform with a band, but seeing someone like Kota the Friend with actual musicians backing him would be stellar.

 

New Goldlink is really weird and experimental... I kinda fuck with it? The first song is actual shit TBH but really picks up.

 

So I listened to The Goat last night. I liked it as well. My only critique with Polo G in general - based off listening to both those albums - is that I'm having trouble differentiating a lot of the songs from each other. Many of them sound similar and his flow is nearly identical on so many songs. That said, I've only listened to Hall of Fame 7 or 8 times now and The Goat once, so maybe as I listen more, I'll be able to differentiate.

I also had the same issue with the Rod Wave album, which I really liked as well.

I just like posting when I hear rap songs but I was at this food joint and they played this song and I was like damn that’s an old cut right there:

yeah I decided to give the album a listen again thanks to that song and man what a great album. He really killed it on his first two releases.

 

Wild move to drop the first and last songs on a 17 track record before it comes out haha

IMO he's killed it on every single release. I know a lot of people disagree but I think he has a super consistent discography

The MIKE joint is pretty in line with what I was hoping for with some additional surprises. These beats and samples are a lot of fun. Flows together surprisingly well too, much more than I was expecting. Lots of cool transitions. Didn’t see a track like Assia coming

 

MIKE is sounding more energised on this. I mean, he's normally so laid back he's horizontal, but he's sounding energised for him!

But yeah. Half way through at the moment and it's sounding great so far.

 

The sound that GoldLink goes for on his new album is such a weird choice. He has a super heavy distortion filter over his voice on almost every song

Her last record won the Polaris prize here, which is kind of massive for a black trans woman making hip hop that’s influenced by metal/heavy music.
