As far as I can tell, right wingers are only pretending to be mad about it because 1. blackrock people work in Biden's admin, and 2. It handles a lot of pension funds. The unspoken part here is that obviously pensions are bad so blackrock must be bad too.

What blackrock is doing isn't right and Biden admin should work on better financial rules IMO, but it's funny watching a bunch of right wingers fake anger about this.

Yeah there fake anger at Capitalism is hilarious to me. That said this is a huuuuuggge issue, I have heard from a variety of people in the housing industry that this has been going on and is one of the reasons the housing situation in this country is currently where its at.

 

I can do some googling but is there a good article or thread summarizing what’s happening with this?

 

So that WSJ article does a decent job of explaining it but then I noticed its paywalled or the full article is. That twitter thread that dumbass Vance quoted tweeted has a ton of info it seems. I haven't vetted all the way through it but it seems good.

 

That twitter thread is nuts. I did not realize we have full communities of houses that are single, family rentals. Not a single house in the community is owned. Developers/Investors are just building communities for rental properties with not desire to sell them. What a great fucking system we have. Another lovely thing our generation has to deal with.

 

Yep, it's pretty fucked up. Blackrock can't be the only one doing that.

 

PE firms should definitely not be allowed to buy single family homes.
