Yeah, they pretended to be concerned about naomi but they clearly pushed the commentators to talk about her constantly with negative undertones.

One tennis channel commentator said that Naomi’s opponents would feel they have an advantage because if she was rattled by press conferences she must be mentally weak.

It’s really a lose-lose, they really had no awareness about this at all and are now being dragged by just about everyone except shitty reactionaries.

I feel like they said similar things about serena when she came back, while they were shitty they were much more subtle.

And the irony of ironies, the French Open president refused to take questions from the media after he read his statement regarding the Osaka withdrawal. Fucking clown shit.

We’re not the good guys: Osaka shows up problems of press conferences | Naomi Osaka | The Guardian

    This is incredible.

    And the fucking coup-de-grace:

Also, given the recent discussion, I find some real dark humor in the fact that Kvitova had to withdraw because she sprained her ankle walking down some stairs leaving the set of one of her media obligations.

Is it just me that thinks tennis press conferences are, for the most part, boring anyway? Perhaps it is time for a revamp to make it better for the player and the audience.

I am not sure on the solution though

I can’t believe Roger is withdrawing when he isn’t actually injured and he is being praised for it.

Tennis channel won’t stop talking about how “smart” he is for withdrawing to prepare his body physically for grass season. Such a stark contrast from what they said about Naomi trying to get a handle on her mental health. And all she wanted to do was skip press conferences.

And I’m sure the majors will be releasing a statement any moment now about how the most popular tennis player of all time withdrawing 4 games into a major to get a competitive advantage sets a bed precedent and is detrimental to tennis.

What a hold by Stef. Looks like this should be a fun 5th set.

Two tennis players who just like to run around and hit a tennis ball, what else could you expect

Really hope Tsitsipas pulls this off. He plays Nadal pretty well on clay. Or as well as you can hope to play Nadal on clay.

Oh, also his ex-gf hasn’t alleged that he abused her…unlike Zverev.

That Isner match is probably one of the best first round matchups you could ever see in quality.

These double faults are becoming an issue for Rafa.

Rafa’s serve starting to fail him. It’s impressive how hard he’s still fighting without it as a weapon.

Since being broken, Djokovic has looked nearly perfect in this set.
