I’m still sanitizing my hands when I’m in public after I touch things, but I’m not spraying/wiping down groceries and stuff like that anymore

 

Frankly everyone should be sanitizing their hands when going to public places a lot anyway just for germs in general lol. I hope all these places continue to have sanitizer dispensers and stuff in the future

 

I still sanitize my groceries and takeout boxes because I'm a crazy person.

To think we live in the same general portion of the state.

 

I just think about how gross public restrooms are and now I want to wear a mask inside them and extra sanitize everything I touch in them forever haha

 

I struggle with this mightily because I feel like everyone took "fomite transmission is not a main mode of transmission for SARS-CoV-2" to mean 'corona can't spread on surfaces', which I would say is not true no matter what anyone or everyone is saying. I suppose there is a balance between not wanting to freak everyone the fuck out all of the time and reinforcing good, healthy and safe practices... Personally, I don't think they've properly struck that balance in this situation.

But also I feel like overall - and especially in this country - we are at this crazy divisive place where things like masks are being called bullshit signs of oppression and freedom being taken away. It feels like everything is all or nothing. Fomites apparently ended up being less of a mode of transmission than originally theorized or thought or whatever and now all of a sudden washing your hands is bullshit and we should all just lick the handrails on the subway train.

 

Its the wild west out here.

 

Before the covid-19 pandemic, the only time I had ever worn any type of medical or surgical type mask outside of a professional setting, like in my job as a healthcare worker, was using an N95 when painting in an indoor, poorly ventilated room. I wouldn't have dreamt of wearing a surgical mask in a public place in the United States, like a grocery store. But I always wash and sanitize my hands more during cold and flu season, and I have always used disinfectants on high-touch and high-use surfaces more often during cold and flu season. At home, counters, tables, doorknobs, drawer handles, the fridge handles, etc. At work, the desks, phones, computer keyboards, etc. I didn't start any of that with the pandemic, I just stepped up my efforts and was more conscientious and anal about it.

I don't care what anyone says about this specific virus - it makes sense to disinfect surfaces and clean your hands conscientiously when there is a highly contagious and infectious virus running rampant through the population.

I would never push masks on anyone else, or even remotely encourage them once mandates and requirements are lifted, but I can definitely see myself personally happily rocking them in the future during certain times of year and in certain situations / environments.

 

I certainly wouldn’t support having more mask mandates after all this is over, but I don’t think it would be a bad idea for the CDC and other medical groups/experts consider recommendations for masks during flu season as a way to reduce spread.

Like obviously we all see those ads and PSA telling people to wash their hands, stay home if you don’t feel well, etc., adding on wearing a mask as a recommendation wouldn’t be a bad idea. At the very least, people who are sick/showing symptoms during cold and flu season should be recommended to wear a mask if they have to go out to stores and stuff.

 

I still see dudes not wash their hands in public bathrooms.

 

I still wear masks in every business that I enter and will continue to do so until I feel confident that the workers are in a safer place. Also masks just are not that inconvenient.

I wish to enter a produce section of a grocery store you have you have a mask and gloves but that’s not even a long shot to happen.

 

Took me until I was on view number 200 to get the Pizza The Hutt joke, as simple as that is. A function of starting to see it when you’re six.
