  1. Yeah the problem in general with zoos is that people always crowd together to see a slight glimpse of an animal. So distancing would be hard

  3. It was very uncrowded today. Not sure if it's by design, or because it was 11am on a workday.

Some stuff was closed like the reptile and bird buildings.

I’m guessing(hoping) it’s by design. We’re going on a Thursday so hoping for the best but it’s also after the school year ends for most so

Cool that the feckless shitheads in Congress can’t be bothered to give a fuck that authoritarian minority rule is a foregone conclusion

Today is the anniversary of the event. Reminder that there is still censorship of it globally on some websites.

Yeah in terms of the Fauci emails I have yet to really see anything that we didn't already know publicly. People think an email he sent from February 2020 talking about how masks aren't effective and you don't need to wear one if you are healthy prove masks don't work even though he and others were saying publicly at that time anyway. Obviously, knowledge about the virus improved and therefore so did guidance for masks. It's not news at all. Maybe some of the other emails are more important (?) but the mask one is what I have seen spread around the most

I just saw that Wesley Morris was one of the signatories to the letter opposing an increase in union dues and the removal of the cap on dues for those making over $140k.

I guess Bill Simmons' anti-union bullshit is contagious lol.

Damn that really sucks. I mean it's not like Parliamentarian rulings are just advisory or anything, they're totally ironclad. And it's also not like the Vice President can overrule the Parliamentarian or anything, that's just not possible.

Oh well, nothing to do but wait for the GOP to take over for good next year.

Apologies if this was already posted, but I found this super-interesting and also very sad. I also think I kind of already understood this subconsciously, but never really gave it much thought:

Your credit card rewards are paid for by America’s poor

A 2010 paper found that households that use cash pay about $149 on average to households that use credit cards, and each of the credit card households gets $1,133 from cash users every year. And, again, because lower-income people are likelier to pay in cash than high-income people, that means the poor are losing out at the hands of the rich.

It pains me to think how much that gap has grown in the past 11 years.

I’ll never understand why kids don’t transmit covid to each other easily but they spread every single other virus in existence to each other no problem at daycare
