It's good to hear some urgency in Tim's voice again. You can definitely hear him trying new melodies which have been lacking somewhat across the last few albums as ultimately he has got older and his raspy voice isn't what it used to be.

I've only given this two full listens so far but I definitely like it a lot. The production is such a step up from Wolves to the point that its actually jarring going back to a lot of the songs from that project.

Monarch is brilliant, but can't compare it to rpm era, it's far more Sufferer era which I am a-OK with.

Said it before. But put this production on Wolves and you’ve got an extra solid album.

I never noticed how bad Wolves sounds until listening to Rise on shuffle on Spotify and having it go from The Numbers to Wolves and having to check if I was listening to some demo version since it sounded so off.

I really like this, haven’t been into a Rise Against record in ages but this is very good. The title track is especially great.

Are they announcing more dates or is this for what's already been announced? Having to miss RA and the Menzos because they aren't playing in Denver, Chicago, and Detroit would be a massive bummer...

Denver has a date in September but it’s support for cage on a bill with 3 other bands and Chicago is 8/28

Damn, and they're not even playing in San Diego! Wild considering RA has a big and loyal fan base here.

Do or do not, there is no try.

I didn’t realise they were touring with The Menzingers and The Descendents, that would be incredible! Shame it’s the US.

Catching up but I had my first listen this afternoon and this might be the best first impressions I've had on an album since Appeal To Reason, which was the first album cycle I followed as a fan. Sure, it doesn't really do anything new and I'd even say it's more of the same... except that more of the same is consistently better than what they've been doing for the last decade, and I also appreciate how they made an effort to steer away from some of their annoying tropes (going from fast paced verses to a slowish chorus for example). I'll have to do a second listen to highlight my favorite tracks as I didn't pay attention to the song titles, but I also wanted to mention how Tim shines all over the record. Yeah, he doesn't scream aside from that one time that kinda comes out of nowhere, but there's a fire in his voice that makes me recall how he sounded in the mid 00's.

  21. I definitely had a similar thought multiple times during my listen. Their signature punk rock / pop punk sound hasn't meshed this well with their latter day hard rock influences.

This is pretty damn good. I like it about as much as wolves , which I felt was a big step up from the previous few.

I would never thought to check out a new Rise Against album in 2021, but the positive reactions in this thread convinced me.

I like it! The last album cycle for them I was paying attention to was Appeal To Reason back in 2008 and this feels very in line with what I liked about them

Some of the bass on this album sounds to me like the bass tone from Siren Song...anyone else notice that?
