I was wondering that when I saw the zoom as well. But I also don’t know shit about cameras so who knows.

 

My assumption was that was something that could be done in post, but I also know very little about film production so that might be far fetched. Would love to get a closer look into the whole process though — how he staggered writing/filming/editing, how much he actually went outside, who he used to test his material since there weren’t audiences & how often he did that, etc

lol obviously. it’s worth asking though since his partner is a renowned filmmaker that he lives with and, presumably, was quarantining with

 

He’s using an automatic slider for those shots I’m pretty sure

 

I do love how insane it was that he didn't just have her direct it

I'm not sure this special is for me, I'm 20 min in and might turn it off. Maybe it gets better but I'm not really finding any of it funny, and only slightly impressed with the production of it... So far

 

To me at least, the special wasn't as funny as it was insightful and emotional. There were funny moments, sure, but it was far more of an art piece/one man show than a comedy special IMO

 

Yeah I get that, I just wasn't finding much of interest in the whole thing. Like, I get what it was going for but none of the songs grabbed me as more than like, a joke that goes on too long, and at least the first third wasn't really that deep or emotional yet. Anyway, I'm not here to trash something that many people enjoy haha, but yeah it's just not for me

 

Yeah as much as I loved it I can see it really connecting with people in a similar headspace and not really doing much at all for people who aren't.

I know netflix is notorious for canceling single season shows but probably for the best in this case. Show was kind of a mess and very generic imo. It is getting replaced by another Millar property in the same universe so it'll be interesting to see if they can improve but I really have zero expectations.

 

I need something to watch while I work.

Not sure these are "underrated," but no one in my IRL circle has seen any of these despite how much I nag them to do so:

Woke (Hulu)
Dave (Hulu)
High Fidelity (Netflix)
High Maintenance (HBO)

 

I think high fidelity is Hulu as well

High Fidelity is Hulu. Thought that show was amazing and I'm still angry that they cancelled it.

That reminds me I'm due for a rewatch soon.

plan b on hulu is pretty great. hate that everyone else that watches it can't stop comparing it to booksmart among other things

 

I haven’t seen Plan B yet, but my cousin is one of the producers.

 

I recommend High Maintenance (HBO) as well, but it deserves more of your attention than a passive watch while working.
