Absolutely speechless at that. Genuinely cannot believe it; it definitely was not easy, but the whole campaign was just so...straightforward? Atletico, pretty tough as usual but nowhere near their best for the two games, Porto got a good win in the 2nd leg but were poor in the 1st so it didn't matter, Real Madrid bang average & never looked threatening across 180mins. Then you finish with a simple 1-0 win against, lets be honest, a better team. No sending off, no penalty given away, no mistakes leading to goals, no VAR decisions, no heartbreaking late equaliser or penalty shootout loss. Just can't get my head around it.

The way Tuchel has set you up since he joined is made for this sort of competition. Tight back five, compact lines, passing options to play simply out of trouble, speed and support on the counter. You just continually executed everything well and came up against teams who, for one reason or another, didn't. Add in a phenomenon like N'Golo Kante - it's an excellent setup for controlling these sort of games, with good balance between defence and attack. It's the league where you have to turn up and win every week where I think Tuchel will have a much bigger challenge.

Congrats though, excellent performances across the knockout stages. Fully deserved. Bastards.

  3. Chelsea winning sucks. But it’s gonna be even worse when City buy Kane and win it next year.

haha, thanks man - Tuchel has been excellent since coming in and while I think he will improve on the 4th place/67 points finish of this season you are right when you suggest the league will be a much bigger challenge. I think it will be another tough season for everybody, however I think Tuchel is similar to Guardiola & Klopp and he has the ability to compete with them at the top of the table for the duration of a season. But hell, even if he doesn't he will be easily forgiven based on what he's won us tonight! :trophy:

Kante is gonna win the Ballon d’Or, and you can’t knock it, but Lewandowski should be completing back to back years and won’t have either.

  8. I can’t wait for Euros. I just tried to do the predictor thing on UEFA’s site and the knockout stages were so hard to predict. I ended up with France v England in the final but don’t feel good about it.

And I don’t know why but I have a feeling Spain will do better than people are expecting. Wouldn’t be surprised at all if they made a deep run.

I think Lewandowski will still win this year; the fact he did not get it last year will work in his favour this time around imo because people will remember that and be more inclined to vote for him so he gets his deserved recognition. However, if Kante wins the Euros with France then it will be a very close vote - if he gets the Man of the Match in the final on top of that then they should award him the Balon d'Or right there and then at the final whistle!

Ray Hudson won't be commentating on La Liga next season? I might watch some games now.

Lincoln 1-0 up already due to an OG. What a story them being promoted to the Championship would be.

I was trying to describe myself to someone

Looks like Rudiger really did a number on KDB last night. Broken nose and cheekbone.

Oh yeah, oh yeah, everything is terrible.

there's mine, seems plausible I like to think?

If you watch the replay it was not a head to head collision like the announcers said and Rudiger himself tried to play it off as. It was a shoulder barge thrown up at the face. I mean Roberto Martinez is definitely biased with wanting KDB in his squad for the Euro's but he was saying it should have been a red to Rudiger.

  16. Full control is definitely stretch. There’s no way that is true. But whatever it takes to get him here just do it.

  17. The “ITK” peeps have drawn their lines though. Half of them say Conte is the guy. The other half say Poch. None of them know anything lol what a crazy existence those people have.

  18. i think i like the idea of rangnick and maybe ten hag over bringing poch back

but i probably prefer poch to conte or potter i suppose

    Rangnick
    Ten Hag
    Conte
    Potter

That’s how I’d rank my preferences. Conte would move up if he was given a solid transfer budget but that just seems unlikely.

I've not played the most recent versions of FM so I'm wondering, do DoFs get in your way like they do for managers in real life? For example, if you're managing a club with a DoF, do they do things like block transfers?

You can set it so that they can agree a fee with a team, negotiate terms with a player, and/or confirm/finalize the transfer, or you can set it so they only do 1 or 2 of those 3, or you can set it so they do none of those things. It's entirely up to you how much control they do or don't have. I feel like even if you give them control with confirming a transfer, it's pretty rare that they would overrule you though, considering they always seem to manage worse deals than you could get, so surely they would accept your much better human brain deals?

Fairly rarely the board will confirm/deny a transfer for you though (selling a player out from under you or cancelling a deal they think is truly, truly awful, for example), but that only really happens at teams that aren't very rich I think, where the money matters more. Pretty unlikely at a big club.

Did we decide on a new thread for the summer international comps or are we waiting for the season kick off?

Maybe a thread for the all the summer competitions and then close it at the conclusion and direct everyone here.

keep this one open for transfer rumors and what not.
