We’re gonna see so many more Penalty shootouts

 

I still don’t understand why Madrid let this guy go. He’s so good.

 

Away goals were always unfair, and this is a long time coming.

Give us extra time with golden goal now.

 

I’d also love to see ET golden boot but I’m sure we are in the minority there haha

 

I always liked golden goals but I seem to remember people used to call them unfair as well, lol.

 

I hate losing by golden goal in hockey, but I also love winning by golden goal in hockey, so... I imagine it would be the same here.

My college got knocked out of the national quarterfinals via golden goal. That was brutal.

 

Glad away goals are gone. They’re awful.


Also golden goal is the absolute drizzling shits. It made extra time a complete waste of time. Silver goal was also horrible.

Yeah they brought it in because they thought that would be the result. Ended up being both teams sitting back for the most part.

 

I guess I'm the only one here that likes the away goals rule. Penalties involve way too much luck to decide a match or even a whole competition for my liking. Anything that prevents them is prefered.

 

Mexico for a while got rid of away goals and if their playoff matches were tied, the higher seed advanced

 

UEFA would totally do that if they could get away with it.

 

They should flip it. Lower seed should advance if they can hold a “superior” team to a draw.

Wow, that is an awful rule. One more thing why the away goals rule should stay.

 

I’ve never liked away goals when they continue to count into extra time. One team getting 30 more minutes to score an away goal never seemed right to me (depends on the competition but was the case in some).

I think my fairytale scenario is Aguero off the bench to score the winner, haha.

 

I just hate that a tie can end 0-0 and 1-1 and that’s enough to send one of the teams home. It’s stupid IMO.

 

Not a fan of away goals at all, so quite glad for them to sod off. I don't really care for golden goal either in the way we last saw it. Maybe it would work better if you did golden goal, but without the prospect of penalties. Play until you can't.

I don't especially have an issue with shootouts though. Both teams have a fair crack at least.

 

Neither. I suppose I’d prefer Chelsea but I really don’t want to see Chelsea win it.
