Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Big boomer energy in saying that society is too sensitive and cultural stereotypes are funny

what a wild time in the Nintendo thread

The Punch Out for Wii was prime punch out in terms of gameplay. We don’t need another one. I’m fine with Arms being the new punching IP franchise for Nintendo.

How many times can I go on Twitter and see the Switch Pro trending without there being an announcement? Almost as bad as GTA VI.

Putting out a Switch Pro now would really suck. In addition to the fact that there’s a components shortage which would affect supply, the next Nintendo console is apparently only two years away. That’s pretty late to be dropping a likely ~$400 half step upgrade. Not a fan of that idea personally.

Is the next Nintendo really only two years away? I thought the whole point of the switch pro was essentially to avoid the Wii U debacle all over again since it sells so well.

For all we know this could be a successor at this point or a bridge between the two. It's anyone's guess what the hell is going on over at Nintendo.

  7. I'd buy a "successor" but I don't think I'd buy a bridging console. Most likely. I guess it depends on price point.

Just hope we don't end up getting games that are only exclusive to a "new" switch. Like they did with the 3DS back in the day.

I'm ready to see what it is though.

We were told explicitly last year, when the Switch was three years old, that the Switch was halfway through its life cycle. So three years from 2020 is 2023.

But just because the Switch is halfway through it's life cycle, doesn't mean that includes whatever the pro is. They could literally have meant the base console.

Yeah he also said in that interview that they had no plans for a Switch Pro which seems almost guaranteed, especially with the Bloomberg article today. They could have easily changed their plans. Nintendo with tech closer to PS and Xbox would make them a juggernaut beyond what they already are. Opens them up to More EA games, Rockstar, etc.

They've never explicitly said a Switch Pro wasn't coming. They've always either given a non-answer or said it wasn't coming in that year. Last year they were saying there was no Switch Pro coming in 2020, which there wasn't.

This wouldn't be the first time Nintendo has released updated hardware close to the launch of their next full hardware release. The DSi XL came out less than two years before the 3DS, for example. It's just a dumb idea imo to put one out right now when barely anybody will be able to actually get their hands on it due to the components shortage and when the Switch 2 or whatever it will be called is less than 3 years away.

It sucks and I wish they weren't doing it.

This is a pipe dream imo. Also every time they tried it hasn't worked out for them all that well (GCN, Wii U).

Yeah it seems like they’re cool being one step behind, the sales show it doesn’t affect them.

They're not one step behind. They're running a different race. Same as they did with the Wii and the DS. That is what they do best.

Mainly meant tech wise, but I know what you’re saying. Also very curious what their relationship with Xbox is that they’ve hinted at forever.

I think it’s a version of GamePass on the switch.

I don’t think that is happening either, though I do believe they were talking about it

Wasn’t there a Switch in the background of that Microsoft event as recent as last month though? I’d say it’s pretty much E3 or bust on that.

My Switch doesn’t even work docked for more than 15 minutes without over heating so I’ll definitely get the pro switch whenever pre orders are live

I will 100% be buying it, pending it’s easy to get (It won’t be haha)

I think Microsoft games might come to Switch, but not as a part of GamePass. But it could happen.
