I strongly disagree with the one note thing. It usually takes me a decent amount of listens of an album to begin to recall melodies by just looking at titles. I feel like I had a strong sense of every track on this one after the 2nd day.

Favorites are the singles, Brutal and Enough for You. Not 100% on Traitor and the closer.

I saw a really good quote from Olivia in my IG explore last night, should have saved it because I can't find it now, but it was a really nice self-aware quote where she basically said "i know that this might not be my best album, but its my best right now at 17 and thats ok, it's a slice of life and i'm proud of it" etc etc. Wish I could find the quote.

If she’s 17/18 and this is her debut and it’s this good, she had the potential to put out an absolute stunner in a few years

Yeah, those are probably the only two I don't really vibe with at all on my first few listens.

I'll cosign the "wanting at least one more banger" opinion. Slot it into the penultimate slot to give one more big punch.

  10. This is really good but not great, although I'm super impressed for an 18 year old's debut album. Honestly Deja Vu is still my favorite. She rules.

The closer is good, but I agree with whoever said it doesn’t really feel like it does a good job of closing things out thematically

    Hey. Supporter

Hard disagree on Hope Ur Okay not closing things thematically. She’s spent the album processing her relationship, feelings of self doubt, and is now looking outward to others who are dealing with struggles, like non-accepting parents, and seeing that she too will be okay.

Eh, I sort of see that, but so much of the album is singularly focused around the end of a relationship that I’d expect the closer to give more resolution to that event/period of time. Hope Ur Ok doesn’t really do that imo.

Yeah I'm pro "hope ur ok" It's not the closer I expected but I think it's just a nice touch to show another side of who she is

THAT'S the song it was reminding me of, thank you, haha. Just missing that killer Australian accent.

I don't know the best way to say this so bare with me while I stumble over my words...but I think this was perfect as the final track.

The song itself seems to be very impactful for the LBGTQ community from reactions I've seen to it online but at the same time, if you take some of the lyrics and even the song title itself outside of the context of the song itself, and instead think of them in the context of the rest of the album you get an album closer that says to the ex from the failed relationship the following:

I miss you. I love you. I hope you're okay.

The placing of these lyrics in this track immediately following favorite crime feels like the ending of the story, with favorite crime being a nostalgic memoir of the relationship lost followed by "I hope your okay".

When I dig deeper, Brutal is the other book end to the album and the lyrics "I'm so caught up in the news of who likes me and who hates you" I read as a direct reference to the drama that circulated everywhere between Olivia, Joshua Bassett and Sabrina Carpenter.

How this relates back to hope your okay, is I think Olivia is acknowledging the impact this album has had and will continue to have on not just her but on Joshua. He's been bullied somewhat by Rodrigo fans and has been radio silent on social media since the album release. I think she's saying yea, I'm telling my truth and I know it's going to hurt you but I hope your okay.

As a final little thing of note, the timeline also checks out because this was the final track Olivia & Dan Nigro wrote together for the album so at the time she was writing it, the Driver's License and Deja Vu love triangle drama was already in full force.

Favorite Crime could be a Good Old War song. Can't believe this girl is only 18. Unreal.

Had no clue he co-wrote "You're Not The One." Truly one of my favorite songs of all time. No surprise I'm digging this, I guess.

Totally agree with comments saying they would like more upbeat tracks. Brutal, good for you, jealousy jealously are definitely my top 3 and it’s no coincidence those are the most upbeat and fiery songs. I could even throw deja vu in there too.

the ballads are still very good though and I expected there to be a lot of that, so I’m just really happy that we even got some bangers like brutal in the first place

I can't even imagine has trajectory from here on out, he's definitely the producer most of the rise right now
