    I do not exist.

All the talk of this Europa Conference... is anyone in this thread old enough like me to remember the Cup Winners’ Cup?

You had the the Champions League, the UEFA Cup (precursor to the Europa League) and the Cup Winners Cup which I believe the winners of the FA Cup entered. Think it finished in 1999.

I am indeed, Chelsea winners in 1998!

God, the UEFA cup was so much better than the EL (even though its kinda exactly the same except in name lol)

I actually quite like that - yeah it's plain but in a "classy" way or whatever. The issue with modern kits like that is the £90 price tag!!!

  9. not drewb entering the spurs banter zone (though it’s apparently hard to avoid) when they just gifted his newer, richer club a CL spot

    wooooooozy

Especially considering the headache I get looking at Chelsea’s home kit for next season

This is one of the first football matches I remember watching, at my great grandmas house in Croydon with my cousin who supported Chelsea. I weirdly wanted they to win because it made him happy haha. Nowadays I would think it was funnier if they lost.

Ah fuck it just hit me the season is over. I went to check if there were any games on. We have a match on Wednesday obviously but that’s it

  16. Peak Spurs would be paying a ton of money to sack Poch, then making Jose one of the highest paid managers, then sacking him after 18 months (paying more money to do so), and then land the dismount by paying out PSG to bring Poch back.

What is everyone's answer to this?

Mine is embarrassingly recent by this thread's standards: USA-Spain, 2009.

I cannot remember exactly but the most prominent example I can recall was the 1996 FA Cup Final where United beat Liverpool 1-0 where Cantona scored that volley that looked like it went through the whole team as it went in

Only things I can remember before that were Match Of The Day games & not live ones I don't think.

(Full disclosure: I had that United home kit with Beckham 24 on the back!!!)

I have a very distinct memory of the game where Beckham broke his metatarsal in 2002. I remember because I'd thrown a tantrum in the bath and almost got grounded from watching the match.

Veron came on and skied the free kick, from memory.

I have very vague memories of USA 94. Not the actual games but being with my cousins who were watching.

I have no idea what the first football match was. The first match I went to was Shelbourne vs Rosenberg in the UEFA cup. The most memorable thing I remember as a kid was Beckham’s goal against Wimbledon.

Oh man, can't remember the first match I watched. Probably somewhere around 1999/2000. I started supporting Liverpool because of Michael Owen's goal against Argentina in '98 but I definitely would not have been watching that live.

The 01/02 season is the first season I can remember most of. I also remember England games from around that time - the 5-1 against Germany, Beckham's last minute free kick against Greece to qualify for the World Cup (and my dad shouting so loudly when it went in that I started crying).

Was that against Deportivo La Coruna?

Oh man, I definitely remember laughing so much when Beckham got sent off against Argentina.

    Google tells me it was.

Now you mention it, I definitely remember Beckham's free kick and the 5-1. The 5-1 in particular. Watched it live and then one of the newspapers gave the match away on DVD afterwards. Used to watch it all the time haha.

  24. My first memory of watching a game was the 1999 USWNT winning the World Cup.

I remember Brandi Chastain and Mia Hamm being everywhere, just not the actual game itself. Highly doubt my parents watched it.
