quite enjoyed freak out! tbh. gonna peep more zappa. tallying the totals for this week now and will post shortly.

 

seems safe to say the beatles will win again. the top 3 finishes ended up being revolver - 47, pet sounds - 43, blonde on blonde - 24. no other album got more than 6.

 

That’s a good run for Pet Sounds tbh

I’m gonna try to throw off the vote by picking magical mystery tour over Sgt Pepper lol

 

my take on those two albums is REDACTED

 

The Velvet Underground? Songs of Leonard Cohen? Astral Weeks? Something from Zeppelin?

 

I’d expect Sgt Pepper and Abbey Road to win 67 and 69 fairly comfortably, but I think there’s a decent chance that there’s a non-Beatles winner for 68.

Will have to wait and see though!

Kinda disappointed I only did 7 new listens in addition to some relistens in ‘66. Hope to do better in ‘67

 

I think I got 6 of my new album listens in. I feel almost like a cop-out for admitting this, but I didn't bother making it through The Mothers of Invention record. After reading a few comments and hearing a track or two, I just knew it wasn't for me.

were all great additions to an amazing year. CShadows thanks for the great recommendation on that Sammy/Laurindo one. I will certainly be revisiting that more in the future, but just wish it was on streaming!

Lots of interesting picks and rationales as always but the thing that immediately jumped out is that you've never heard Forever Changes? You have to get on that one. You'll love it.

 

yup, like I said in it, it's been on the list forever but never got around to it for whatever reason. bopping around the album to look for a riff made me think "yeah, I'm gonna love this" lol
