I have had a few moments like that recently, though they were about 00s artists (more so than Cole), which at last made it sting a little less haha

 

My mom was really into Eminem when I was a kid

 

The new J Cole record is cool. A handful of clunky lines but it doesn’t overstay its welcome.

 

My 70 year old Swiss non-English speaking mom likes a lot of J. Cole songs lol She likes how his voice sounds

 

Honestly I really like J Cole’s delivery too. Huge part of the appeal for me.

 

Give me Kendrick and Gambino or Pusha and Big Sean

We’re getting Lil Baby x Lil Durk on June 4th. Not sure if it’s been mentioned in here yet.

Al mentioned that at the weekend, I’m surprised the sleuths on Reddit haven’t found it yet.

Although tbh I reckon he’s just trolling.

 

Catch me never investigating YouTube for a completely secret album, wouldn’t even know where to start especially considering it’s already two years old haha

 

Does anyone else not really like collab albums for the most part? There are obvious exceptions but I always feel like they're just bland and the artists don't try as hard as they do on their own stuff for the most part

Depends if it's producer/artist collab or artist/artist

 

My albums of the year for the past couple of years have been collabs. And this year may be the same too.

 

I think it’s much easier to make a cohesive project with a producer/artist collab

 

Only collab album I ever truly loved, and still go back to, was the Nas/Damian Marley album.

 

That Moor Mother and billy woods though

 

Both of these! I always loved that Nas/Marley album and felt it never got enough attention. The same can be said about the Moor Mother/Billy Woods album, I think what hurt it was the time of year it was released and that it wasn’t immediately available on streaming services so ppl just forgot about it or overlooked it.

 

I know I'm guilty of this. Really fucking great album, gets better on every listen. Only listened to it yesterday too.

 

Nas/Damien is a great album, but Watch The Throne will always be my #1 collab album, truly full of bangers that didn't get the praise it deserved

 

Two of my all time favorite hip hop albums are collab albums, Black Star and Reflection Eternal. Also the new Wiki is a collab and might be my favorite so far this year.
