I feel like this year has been kind of weak for Hip Hop so far, but feel free to sway me. I feel like the only ones I'd consider great are

    Genesis Owusu
    Wiki
    Armand Hammer
    The Alchemist (ep)

Please provide more that I might be missing. There's a lot of good stuff, this is just the only stuff that's stood out to me so far.

Agree, Wiki and Armand Hammer are head and shoulders above everything else for me so far this year.

There are a few here I haven’t heard of. Our taste in hip hop seems to be pretty similar, so will definitely have to check them out.

Just finished doing this finally lol, have now heard his whole solo discography for the most part. Makes really great background music, and I have even more respect for him as a producer than I already did, which was a lot, he has so much range

    Yessssss lol

I never posted it in here because I figured it wouldn't be anyone else's thing but I'm huge into both of their projects. This non-album single from last year might be my favourite

I searched them to see who talked about them here and of course it was you last year in a post above one of mine that I didn't check out lol. Leave it to my old ass to find them from Pitchfork

Totally forgot Bob’s Son was this year, for some reason I thought it was late Dec. That, and Armand Hammer are def my favs so far. Still digesting Lost In NYC, and Soulfly.

    hey you lil piss baby

Regarding new stuff this year, there's been so little that has stuck with me. The Kevin Gates and Pooh Shiesty tapes are probably the closest I have to favourites but even thoseI haven't listened to much. Checked the Morray tape last week, which struck me as one of the better hip-hop records this year. I think he's kind of doing the Rod Wave thing better than Rod Wave (maybe because this record clocks in at 35 minutes lol) and "Quicksand" is definitely major. I listened to that 24kGoldn record quite a bit (lol) but that's like junk food and I like it more as a pop record than a hip-hop record. New Armand Hammer is really good but still hasn't clicked with me like their last one. Mavi and The Alchemist EPs are strong but they're both super short. Some solid tracks on the YSL comp too.

High hopes for MIKE next month, he never disappoints. Hoping that Vince and Earl drop some time this year.

Been coming back to these tracks a bit lately

Wow just now realizing that nearly all of the rap I've listened to in 2021 is from years past. Only a few from this year have made an impression on me.

I would add the Navy Blue record, but that came out in 2020.

Healy - Tungsten (fantastic smooth & atmospheric record with Daniel Caesar / dijon vibes)
DOOM and Czarface - Super What?
The Alchemist - This Thing of Ours
Nicki Minaj - Beam Me Up Scotty re-release

...that's really it lol. I dug some songs from the YSL comp. I can't bring myself to listen to that Armand Hammer album because of the repulsive cover art which sickens me every time I scroll past it.

There hasn't been a ton of great stuff this year yet, but here's some of what I've enjoyed

Brockhampton - Roadrunner: New Light New Machine
    Rod Wave - Soulfly
    YSL - Slime Language 2
Conway The Machine - If It Bleeds It Can Be Killed
Benny The Butcher - Plugs I Met 2
    Moneybagg Yo - A Gangsta's Pain

  22. Totally forgot the Navy Blue record was last year haha. Reasons why December records almost always get left off my AOTY lists!

Big co-sign on the Healy record too. That’s been a really safe go-to all year, can pretty much put it on at any time. Second Wind is constantly stuck in my head

    Just a friendly reminder

The Bruiser Brigade Label compilation that just dropped is pretty excellent. And even if it wasn't, it's worth it for Danny's ODB impression alone.

Shit totally forgot about Bruiser Wolf’s recent album—that shit is INCREDIBLE. Def a top 2021 album so far.

That Danny song above rules- gotta check out that comp.
