Which joker on this board from the absolutepunk days told me Nolan Ryan wasn't very good and is one of the most overrated pitchers of all time?

Nolan Ryan stats always blow my mind. The guy pitched at a high level his entire career, basically. And his career spanned from 1966-1993... which just looks like a misprint or something. lol

 

Nolan Ryan was very good but still wouldn't make my top 5 of modern era pitchers

 

(Gibson, Randy, Clemens, Maddux, Pedro but honestly Verlander is almost there)

Kershaw is the best pitcher of all time by ERA+, not counting Mariano for obvious reasons

Nolan Ryan was so nuts. I wish I could’ve experienced watching a dude throw 300 innings and strike out 383 in a single season. He posted a 140 ERA+ at 44! He threw 170 innings that year.

Science needs to examine his arm and let us know what it’s made of

 

I think we forget sometimes that Kershaw is essentially Trout as a pitcher

Kershaw is 4th all time for WHIP -- the first two dudes played in the dead ball era and the third is Mariano.

Kershaw is 2nd all time in H/9 -- first is Nolan Ryan.

2018 and 19, when it seemed like Kershaw might be washed and on the other side of the mountain, he still posted a 139 ERA+ over 340 innings. Then goes to Driveline and is back to being himself in 2020
