I really hope it comes tomorrow, but I would have felt a lot better if there had been an announcement of the announcement today.

 

I'm getting shot #2 tomorrow so I hope it comes tomorrow or Friday to distract me from the inevitable pain

I hate to semi-derail the thread here, but I just remembered something that I completely forgot to post about when it came up. BUT, Girls Against Boys teased some 2021 shows, as per this post. I think the last time they played shows was Riot and that one festival in Austin. So I bet they’ll be on Riot (and I certainly hope they are)

Papa Roach is doing ‘Infest’ at BRRF... they would probably fit Riot.

 

Honestly, I think Papa Roach is too far into that "active rock" radio world to be a fit for Riot Fest. An Infest album play might put them a bit closer to the fence, but they're still on the other side of it IMHO.

I think Riot would get clowned pretty hard by their core if they put them on the bill. They've avoided the more cartoonish nu-metal bands to date.

EDIT: I'd be 100% down for an Infest album play. That record has some bangers. I just don't see it happening.

 

Papa Roach would make a lot of sense for the day Smashing Pumpkins / Rob Zombie day if it ends up going that route.

 

Papa Roach helped get Alien Ant Farm a major label contract, so that's cool... I don't expect them to play at Riot though

 

I saw someone in there say that they think Weezer will play even if Hella Mega still happens. At least before people were saying those bands with the assumption that the tour would be cancelled. Also Korn is going to play because they play in Tinley Park, not Chicago.

 

I always thought Veruca Salt would be cool for an afternoon slot on Pumpkins day (they are friends with Corgan, Nina sang on one or two of the Mellon Collie b-sides).. Chicago alt girl fronted group, they were good the last time I saw them live (in 1997 yikes, I'm old).. plus you can't fight the Seether!!!

actually Alien Ant Farm wouldn't be bad either, I saw them at Warped in 2001, and then maybe in 2002 and then again like 5 years ago or so.. I could see them play Riot, I guess

btw I seriously doubt either Veruca Salt or Alien Ant Farm are playing Riot... I'm just throwing out darts waiting for the lineup

 

Agreed! I saw them on that weird Buckcherry county fair tour a couple summers ago with POD and Lit and had a fun time.

I really dislike you for putting this idea in my head. I’d love to see Veruca Salt or Hole at Riot. Courtney, Eric, Melissa, and Patty were rumored to be rehearsing for something right before covid hit.

Also, I just realized The Sounds have been on the poster this whole time, that’s gonna be such a fun show.

 

Has anybody mentioned Danny Elfman as a possibility? He's got an album coming out in a month (hasn't released a solo album in 37 years!!!), I feel like he'd be such a good fit. We've already got Smashing Pumpkins & Rob Zombie's being rumored, I'm all the way in for more weird dark shit
