Some more Fred news: The monthly singles will be compiled into an album, which will also see a physical release later this year.

 

Discovering after reading the description of the YouTube video that the band's corporation in the Fred era was called I Feel Like Taking Crazy Pills.

 

finally got around to listening to Abendigo

I was missing out, that album is stunning

 

I remember listening when it first came out and enjoying it, but I can't remember anything from it anymore.

Sounds like I'll be revisiting this today.

 

I've always kind of found John's solo stuff boring.

 

It pains me to say that by the way.

 

It's so damn good

I saw him on that tour and he was actually amazing live.

 

"Smiling and Alive" might be one of my favourite things John has ever written, and I have huge love for Straylight

better check his first two solo albums I guess

 

They're both really solid, you'll enjoy

 

it's so cool that "Half a Block to Go" is kind of an extension of "Homecoming", that hit me hard when I realised it

also when I was googling that to check if I was imagining it or not, I came across an AMA from 2018 where he confirmed the connection which also has this fun tidbit:

"I really like collaborating with other musicians that I’m friends with and I’ve discussed it with a few of them but nothing solid has ever materialized. When I was on tour with Dashboard and Saosin we had an impromptu accapala jam session every night with a revolving group of people. It was super hippy stuff and we recorded on our phones but never went further. We called the group Fucking Whatever."
