I have no idea what the Dark Nights: Death Metal Soundtrack is but the track list has a Manchester Orchestra song called “Never Ending” as track 7. Release 07/16/21.

I don't know why I do this to myself, but I find myself eagerly awaiting the Pitchfork review.

After a few weeks of consistent spinning, this record is in a dead heat for best MO album with Black Mile. I simply adore it.

 

Don't put stock in a pitchfork review, this is 2021, you should know better

I’m not saying any of the records deserved a 10 or something, but the way these scores are - it seems that they view this particular band through a certain lense.

Seriously, man? A .1 difference between records? Okay, cool cool. That’s not intentional or weird at all.

Yes, I understand BM is a 7, but it’s the outlier, and indicates the trend points towards a 7.1. But hey, maybe I’m wrong.

 

Somebody give me an oral history of the “_____ is trash” tradition. Please and thanks.

 

p4k views stuff in this sphere a lot more favorably now than when their first couple albums came out. They gave Gami Gang a pretty good review.

 

I don’t care what they give it but I do find it kind of odd they haven’t reviewed it.

 

Pitchfork has some amazing writers and others who publish truly terrible takes - so, your typical music website. The writer doesn’t choose the score btw

 

as insufferable as he is, i do think ian cohen caping for them this cycle might bump it up to, idk, a 7.3 lol
