Way of X was super good. I love that of all the characters to be like “okay this is kind of fucked up” it’s Nightcrawler.

Crossover finally drowning us in cameos
Probably doesn't need to be spoil tagged but just in case.

Speaking of Donny Cates, Omg Babyteeth finally having another issue next week!

Anyone following the Vader comics? I guess there was a big reveal? Can someone spoil me?

The comic picked up with Vader arriving at Exogal with Ochi to confront Palpatine. The fight itself was kinda weird Imo. Big monsters they were controlling and the art had to (or did they) circle Vader and Palpatine to show where they were. I wasn’t a big fan of how it was depicted.

Story wise, you see clones in tanks and find out the fleet from episode IX was powered by kyber crystals.

The biggest wow moment came when Palpatine was talking about cloning and they show a hand in a jar. Presumably it was Luke’s and presumably at some point in the future we will have to deal with a dark side Luke clone (Luuke lol).

    RIP John Paul Leon.

Original artist on Static, who went on to do some other Milestone stuff (Shadow Cabinet; Static Shock: Rebirth of the Cool; Milestone Forever), as well as Earth X, some X-Men stuff, & some Batman stuff.

Both original Static writers (Dwayne McDuffie & Robert L. Washington III) died before 50, & now his original artist is gone at 49.

The zoom in on Storm when they mention a secret title leads me to believe we could be seeing a Storm series later this year. Hmmmm

    My official theory:

    3128FE15-AAD3-4287-B3EC-8DBED734A969.jpeg

That new Hickman series launching in September will be called “New X-Men,” set on Mars, with Storm as one of the central characters. She’ll be a big part of making the Mars colony hospitable, probably alongside Magneto & some other mutants with relevant powers. Whenever Moira comes back into the picture, it’ll be in this book, too.

I think they picked September for it to launch because comic solicitations are released roughly three months in advance. Planet-Sized X-Men and/or the last issue of Hickman’s X-Men series will have the full announcement.

I came in here to say this. Hopped on with 106 and I'm loving it.

Question for anyone who read Batman 108 minor spoilers: What did this guy in the wheelchair being honored by the mayor do? There's an asterisk saying Infinite Frontier #0 and I read that but don't remember

Yeah I did too. Fun jumping on point and I like Tynion’s other stuff. This isn’t at the level of Department of Truth or Something is Killing the Children but it’s fun so far and could get even better.

When the Joker escaped Arkham he gassed the place, killing nearly all the workers. Mahoney, the man in the wheelchair, was a guard and risked his life to save some of the few survivors. I think a bomb went off, that part I'm not totally clear on. Also if you read any of Gotham's Future State he was Peacekeaper 01, who played a pretty important role. I've enjoyed giving him a bit of a backstory.

Interesting, I've seen that name mentioned elsewhere - maybe in one of the backup stories. I skipped out on Future State for the most part other than Swamp Thing and the Teen Titans two-in-one I have yet to read.

Spoiler for Future State, or possibly the future of the Batman series, I don't know how that works, either way it happened in Future State, He's actually the one who "kills" Batman and the reason the new Batman steps up

Justice League: Last Ride has an excellent first issue. Zdarsky is killing it at DC. Wonder when he'll write one of the main series. Honestly I'd love to see Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern (Jessica, please DC don't forget her)...feel like he could do them all.

Need to pick up #2 but I just read the first issue of Challenge of the Supersons - didn't read the first series but maybe I will go back and read - set on eBay goes for like $20. Anyway, really enjoyed what I did read. Looking forward to Robin #2 as well.

Comic books are very good, y'all.

I haven't been active here lately, so I don't know if I mentioned the first issue when it dropped, but The Many Deaths of Laila Starr #2 came out today, & my gosh do I adore this miniseries. Written by Ram V; drawn by Filipe Andrade; published by Boom. If I wanted to be terribly reductive, I'd say it's like if Neil Gaiman's Death were set in India (which others online have already more or less said), but it's really its own, very good thing. I can already tell it's gonna be in my top few favorite comics of the year. Makes me curious about that new Swamp Thing series Ram V is also writing.

Jonna and the Unpossible Monsters #3 (Chris & Laura Samnee w/ Matt Wilson, for Oni Press) was also very good. Charming, gorgeously illustrated fantasy series centered on a couple sisters. Appropriate for all ages, too, if you have any younger people in your lives that you wanna get reading comics.

And, the new development in Radiant Black #4 (Kyle Higgins & Marcelo Costa, for Image) is... interesting. If it is what it looks like, it's a bold choice, especially after the character-centric last issue. With all the funky stuff going on, I imagine there's more going on there than it seems. Regardless, still digging this a bunch.

Oh, and since it hasn't been posted in here yet...

...looks like my theory that Magneto is part of Hickman's mystery book was (probably) wrong, lol.

I'm very interested in how Leah Williams handles a seemingly villainous turn for one of my favorite morally grey mutants in the Reign of X era. She's quietly one of Marvel's best writers with character stuff. I'm guessing this will also serve as a sort of unofficial third arc for her soon-ending X-Factor series.
