Iceage have announced their fifth album, Seek Shelter. It arrives May 7 via new labelMexican Summer.

“Crime is the undercurrent that runs through everything,” Iceage frontman Elias Bender Rønnenfelt said in a press release. “If you don’t see it, you’re not looking. In its invincible politics, it is the glue that binds it all together. ‘Vendetta’ is an impartial dance along the illicit lines of infraction.”

Seek Shelter, which follows 2018’s Beyondless, was recorded with Spacemen 3’s Sonic Boom, marking the first time Iceage have ever worked with an outside producer for one of their albums. The lineup has also expanded with the addition of guitarist Casper Morilla Fernandez. Additionally, two tracks feature the Lisboa Gospel Collective. The album was mixed by Shawn Everett.

They consistently put out cool stuff, so I have no reason so assume this will be any different. Liking both of the tracks shared above.

“As a childhood friend of theirs, it was important for me to showcase our friendship and the people we share everyday life with,” Coleman said in a statement. “So instead of making a video full of symbolism or a staged performance, I wanted to make a private and personal video close to our hearts. After a crazy year of COVID-19, the world in flames and structural racism peaking at such an extent, I wanted to create a meaningful piece, especially being a woman of color and fully in my third trimester. In the midst of a pandemic it’s important to remember that those of us who are privileged enough to have a roof over our heads, food, security, love and care, is something of great value. Love is not something one should not take for granted.”

obsessed with this record. iceage is one of the worlds greatest bands and if things made sense they’d also be one of the biggest... can’t wait to see these songs live.

It's pretty good. There's nothing here as immediately arresting as "Hooray" or "Catch It" but it's a logical progression from Beyondless. Fave tracks: "Vendetta," ""Gold City" and "Dear Saint Cecilia."

I do kind of miss the edge that their old music had: they're never going to make a song like "How Many" again. That's kind of a bummer.

    It sounds lovely.

I am so salty I didn't pre-order the clear vinyl. They even restocked last week, and I still missed it.

If anyone has it, and would be willing to part with it for a nice return, please DM me.

wild to me this got so little buzz. album is beautiful. they’ve yet to make something that isn’t, at the least, very good.

Need to revisit this. I liked it when I heard it but haven’t gone back much. Although I listened to Gold City on repeat when that single came out.
