I just noticed that Riot Fest changed the header on their Twitter page to include the September 16th preview party too (and indicating that it's "no longer for sale"). Is that new thing?

Let's hold our breath until we disappear

Looks like it has been that way since the April 16 announcement.

I wish they would just surprise us with an announcement today because I am having trouble actually concentrating on work and probably should be productive at some point before Wednesday or Thursday.

Same. The hype is real. And the fact that the field of speculation is so wide open, with so many bands not doing full tours or having anything on the calendars... Is making it even harder. Hah.

NIL or SLS could either be a later-timed small stage or the 11:55am medium stage opener ala Menz in 2014 or Pkew x3 in 2019. Nil coming from Canada though so I’m not sure what the border sich will be in four months

im just excited to see how many new bands get announced and how much bonus info we get: thursday line up, album plays, maybe even after shows.
a few weirdly specific guesses - MGK is the spot after TBS, the spot after vic mensa could hold 2 possibly even 3 names with the block formatting they use, and im callin my beloved ETiD for the spot after K.flay

This is exactly what I was thinking. Second to last on the second stage or first on the main stage. Personally, I'd prefer an early day set and an after show one of the nights!

Same! And you have to figure that there are a substantial number of new artists to announce. I think when somebody did the math last year it came out to be ~60% of what we'd anticipate for the line-up and we've had a few acts drop off since then. So it's going to be a pretty big update.

Which also means that I wouldn't read too much into the question mark placement. Those generally don't mean much. That being said if they did:

The spot between TBS and Sublime would be exactly where I think MGK would go as well. Dinosaur Jr. somewhere between Vic Mensa and New Found Glory. And I was thinking the Larry Arms between Circle Jerks and Thrice (because Chicago) with Every Time I Die just before K.Flay.

But again, I really think these are just placeholders and we'll see quite a few band names added across the poster - from top to bottom.

Well. I'm willing to call that a lock... Unless, for some wild reason, they wind up on Lolla instead. But I don't see that happening.

(And, while they may play on Thursday night, I highly doubt they would be an exclusive act. That would be a weird thing to do with a new album dropping.)

EDIT: Also looking like Motion City Soundtrack is in the mix. That 2022 tour for CTTM doesn't have a Chicago date. They also may be holding off on doing anything until next year, though.

I would love for Rise Against to play either The Unraveling (for its 20th) or The Sufferer and The Witness (for its 15th) on Thursday and then they can go ahead and play a normal set during the proper festival.

That rise against tour reads like a first leg only because they only hug the east coast, southern border and west coast, there is nothing in the middle of the country

So am I! That is exactly why I assume during the regular festival they won’t want to do an album play. I’m just being hopeful that Riot Fest could at least convince them to do it for a special Thursday set.

I’m assuming MCS will do Riot then announce NYE after the fest.

Rise against doesn’t seem to be on that play full album for anniversary train. Outside of years ago when they where still on fat and played their first 2/3 albums in full at metro they haven’t done it since

There’s def gonna be a 2nd leg to that rise against tour. There’s no way they miss half the country after not touring for 2 years. My guess is that tour, festival circuit in September/October full USA tour November December

I know Milwaukee is technically outside of the radius clause for riot but does rise playing summerfest only 2 weeks before take them out of playing riot fest? Summerfest is their only Midwest date so far. I’m guessing they are also playing louder then life. That lineup comes out on Friday

There are already bands announced for Riot Fest that are playing Summerfest the same weekend as Riot Fest. So it definitely doesn’t take them out.

Yes I know this but those bands were announced months ago. And rise is a stage headliner for summerfest. Some of the other bands are too. It’s just weird they don’t hit Chicago on their first tour back and wait until either riot fest or a fall/winter tour to play

It's definitely weird to skip it on that tour. But Riot Fest would be a halfway decent "breaking point"/stop between the end of that run and the other festival they have on 9/24.
