Rewatching the Netflix documentary on Romney in '08 and '12 was much more interesting when contrasting it with the craziness of this year's election.

What's the big deal? The Green Party is typically pretty upset with animal captivity. Is it a meme thing or something?

yeah it's a pretty reasonable statement actually. it's too bad because it's a sentiment I stand with, our animal treatment laws are fucked (see: food industry, incidents like these), fucking internet ruins everything

Anyone in this thread saying it's a big deal?

People were mocking it?? You even said you thought it was photoshopped. I truly don't know the context besides the sentiment that she's against animal captivity. Just trying to figure out what the internet knows that I don't. If you don't want to fill me in, then ok.

She should've said "delete your account" or made a bad Pokemon Go joke instead, I guess.

Fill you in on what? I wouldn't know. The tweet Jason posted was of a screenshot, person who tweeted didn't directly quote Jill's tweet. So I didn't think it was real.

Haha well ok, maybe I'm not missing anything, I don't know. I wasn't trying to call you out or anything. One person quoted the tweet and called her "such a joke" so I thought there was more to it than trying to call attention to an issue with caging wild animals.

Well, all heroin comes from that area of the world, and a walled border would absolutely decrease heroin trafficking, as 90% comes by way of Mexico and it's much, much harder to get into the country via air and sea. Hence why American distributors haven't cut out the Mexican middle men.

Also, painkillers that are allowed for home administration (oxycodone being one of the most potent to my knowledge) are not nearly as powerful as heroin.

I used to have a problem with pain pills and did do oxcycodone. Is fentanyl or dilaudid at all easy to find on the street? I thought even medical morphine was extremely hard to come by because of how stringently it's monitored. With drugs like that which are only approved for possession/administration by medical facilities, I'd have to think that those drugs are very hard to come by.

Either way, congrats on being in recovery. It takes incredible fortitude to go sober.

I don't get it. Is this to make fun of animal welfare activists?

Voicelessness is a pretty central (and important) concept to animal rights, welfare, and liberation. The mass torture and commodification of living things is pretty morally disgusting, and the only "voice" nonhumans have ever had in our political climate regards how to manage them with the least health risk to humans and with the most respect for individual private property rights.

Haha, Smith is just being overly dramatic. If he seriously thinks his election as Labour Leader would be some huge, generation-defining moment then he's deluded. It would just mean the Labour party would return to how they were before Corbyn, i.e. barely distinguishable from the Conservatives. I don't believe for a second that he would follow through with all the left-leaning policies he's currently proposing if he actually managed to become Prime Minister. The only reason he's saying all this is because he knows he has to appear to be on the left to win over the Labour party members. I don't think it's working for him though. Why would anyone vote for him when Corbyn is far more convincing?

a lot of the opium comes from mexico too. but im still not convinced a wall will stop it whatsoever, either way.

they are if you take the right dosage. an addict can quell their addiction with the right dosage of any opiate was kind of my point.

fentanyl is extremely easy to find in my experience. dilaudid not so much. morphine is easy to find too. oxycodone is what most people including myself start with before jumping to heroin and it's not hard to find at all. point is i dont think stopping heroin itself addresses the real issues of the opiate epidemic. 70% of heroin addicts start with painkillers. that's a fucking high number.

anyway, thank you! it's been a long journey but im happier and healthier now than ive been in years. definitely glad to be sober and alive.
