Wow did I write that article? For the most part I like Cody but everything he does is extremely over booked in my opinion

Meanwhile NXT continues to scrape by with ~700k viewers and half the demo, even on their own night.

Feels like WWE made a huge mistake letting AEW have their ngiht to themselves cause now its consistently doing a million

 

Cody Rhodes has become the wrestling version of James Corden.

It feels like everything he does is calculated to break you down into saying “Yes, yes, you’re very talented” and it makes him come off like a total hack.

And I say this as a guy who adored Cody vs. Dustin at DoN, and really liked Cody’s 2 matches with Brodie.

 

I am largely still very positive on cody and I think his matches have largely been good to great but it’s definitely tiring seeing him be one of the only to get massive pyro, to get the special entrance without coming through the tunnels like everyone else and then getting super over booked matches.

I’d be way more into his character if he turned, I think. It’s easier for me to rationalize him getting all those extras + being EVP if he was heel flaunting all these things. Now it just feels incongruous with “I’m a wrestler who happens to be evp but I also get all these things other people don’t”

 

It's so weird bc in the first year he was a massively enjoyable babyface

 

When did Jimmy Uso come back? And Otis is a heel now? Haven’t watched smackdown in forever but read some results

I think to continue working as that babyface character, you have to keep coming up short of true success (see: D-Bry, Sami, etc)...and they chopped the legs out from under that possibility really early on by making him ineligible for the title. By AEWs rankings, he should be the #2 contender right after Orange Cassidy...so he's being booked like a babyface who should be facing Omega, but he cant do that, so what is there really to root for?

They're kind of at the point where he needs to hit a massive losing streak and turn heel off it. He can stay face in multiple losses if people are costing him #1 contender shots for the NA title, etc...and then eventually turn heel on whichever face has it.

 

I still have zero idea why they took away their most over babyface's chance for the title so early
