I don't hate the song. It's fine, but I don't think it does anything that stands out. For the most part, it feels like a very by numbers song.

 

All this discussion about METN just reminded me that I haven't listened to that record in full in probably 3 or 4 years. It is amazing how thoroughly I've outgrown that record considering that, when it first came out, I probably would have said it was among my favorite records. I just don't really connect with it at all anymore.

I hated hearing that intro live and hate it on record even more.

That song just hits my ear wrong in every way possible. One of the few songs in their discog I skip every time.

Edit: I do like the last two minutes of it quite a bit. But I still skip it.

 

I don't really agree with that pull quote as Simple Math felt like a true follow up to METN as much as this is a follow up to Black Mile

I concur, and while I put the album last it’s worth noting that I still love it.
